Vectrix VX2 charger - repair or replace ?

My model 960-4CH35 charger just shorted out while starting to charge my 2012 Vectrix VX2 scooter.
I'm going to look into possibly repairing it locally in SF Bay Area, any advice welcome.
Also would like to know if anyone knows where I might be able to buy a replacement ?
Or any leads on a compatible charger from another manufacturer?
The spec on this one is
Input: 110VAC , 60Hz, or 240V, 50Hz.
Output 48VDC 20A.

$3000 seems like a fair price for a new Vectrix 2 it's a nice bike, you could probably bargain the dealer lower if you tried, but you have to understand it's a huge gamble because there's no future support since the manufacturer went bankrupt. I was able to find a VMoto distributor based in China/Hong Kong who still makes and sells a compatible 960-4CH35 charger, You might contact them and ask them about batteries:

Re: Vectrix VX2 charger - repair or replace ?

Do you have a Lithium pack or the AGM Greensavers? Is it like my e Max or is it V Moto? Mine has a Gel Cell AGM charger and I swapped it out for one of my many Iota 48 volt chargers. Mine was built in and was like the VX-1 charger in that it was a 240 volt charger that had a 110 volt plug on it. I leave one of the Blue el-Cheapo Chinese charger of the 48 volt 2 amp variety under my seat just in case I run short of a charge for I leave my relatively expensive Iota home. A two amp Chinses chaarger is 20 or so bucks and Iota is $200.00 or more. My scooter seems to be a copy of the VX-2 48 volt but I am not sure. If the bike is the same then it has a Lead acid Gel Cell pack and almost any Gel charger can work of the 48 volt variety.

Vectrix Spare Parts (http://vectrixparts.com/) is run by former employees of Vectrix who acquired all the USA stock parts and continue to sell them and they do ship to the USA.

The US charger is listed at $1,072.69 but is currently shown as not in stock, you will have to check with them about potential availability:

Best of luck!

vectrixparts.com in Poland has the USA 110V version listed for sale at $1,072.69, but indicates that it is not currently in stock:

The website says "Please ask for availibility."
