TC Charger - what will fit?

Working out my strategy for upgrading my VX-1. While my ESD charger is working, my thoughts are that when I switch to Leaf cells, the charge time
Is going to be quite long. I also don't want to ride a science fair project either. (Though I'm impressed with Ben Nelson's supplemental chargers)

Since Dugas Engineering makes an interface for the TC charger to the Vectrix, it seems the way to go. The big question, what's the highest capacity TC Charger that will fit? The PFC2000? The 2500? I doubt the 3000 will. Also, does anyone know if the Dugas interface needs a CANBUS version of the charger to work?

At least with any of these a higher charge rate should be available on a 240V source.

I have experience with Elcon chargers -- TC chargers and Elcon are very closely associated.

The PFC3000 was fine in the front trunk of my Karmann Ghia but I can't imagine it fitting onto a Vectrix. I've seen 2500's on several Zero S's and it works well on that bike.

We put a 1.5KW elcon into a friends bike - that was with one of Antiscab's adapter/braket - my guess is with some fiddling you might be able to get the 2.5 to fit but not sure. BTW they seem to work very reliably - we got a dud first time around and never managed to get it fixed - the second one has been perfect...just like clockwork. As my friend says its, "just like charging the phone!"

2.5Kw version fits, you need to modify the case somewhat. You also need to add a fan - I used a thin 120mm unit.

I made up a mounting system using 20mm RHS and threaded rods. Its tight, but it fits.

Re: TC Charger - what will fit?

Some pictures would probably make some sense!

Charger_Top_View.JPG

The charger is just narrow enough that it fits between the mounting points of the original charger.

Charger_Side_View.JPG

This means you can make up a mount out of 20mm gal RHS, and some threaded rods.

Believe it or not, when the rods are tightened, the whole assembly is extremely strong. Held on with some socket head bolts.

Re: TC Charger - what will fit?

Thank you! Some great ideas!!! Once I get the leaf cells in, this will probably be the next mod.
