Would anyone possibly have a esd's charger they would sell? I just bought a 08 with only 24 miles on it, but the darn charger isn't working. I stole the charger off my 07 just to put that 25th mile on it. Thank you Jim

Be careful. I found a Runke on eBay, but there was no Runke in 07 so the software for my bike was never made for the Runke by Vectrix. Then I found an ESD charger on a VX3 being parted out but when it showed the connectors were not compatible with my bike. I am thinking about moving the connectors from my charger, but I heard the ESDs were REALLY difficult to get apart.
I sill don't have a working bike after several charger purchases. Also, if you don't have CanBus adapter (the third $150 I spent on the non-working bike) you many not be able to update the ESD charger you find to be compatible with your bike or vice versa.

There is SW available for your Runke charger. Not sure what you mean in your first sentence.
My understating was that there was no software for the Runke *that Vectrix had made* in 2007, perhaps the same would be true for his 2008. I suggested he be careful in getting a new charger. Just my personal experience in trying to get my bike fixed on the cheap. No longer cheap, still not working.

All of the chargers (RUNKE/ESD) have and need SW. There were 2 versions of the Runke. The original had a control daughter board that was layed out on the PCB by the chinese guys which had many problems. Vectrix redesigned that board and the pinout of the processor changed a little. So the SW for the original and the newest chargers are not compatible. But SW exists for both.
I'll try to understand your points Israndy. I assume you have NIMH battery.
Correct. Runke appeared in 2009
Incorrect. There was runke software for NIMH vectrixs: When esd was blown after 2009, it was replaced with Runke. As X-vectrixs point out, there was diffefrent childboard versions, all of them with software for NIMH.
You have 2008 square connectors and that vx3 ESD has old 2007 Pigtail. That Pigtailed chargers are the long lasting ones (don't know why). I have two vectrix from may 2007, both with original ESD with pigtail, both working perfectly.
You're right.
Solution 1:
Don't open the ESD charger. Instead buy the pigtail connectors that match your vx3 ESD, to replace your square connectors on your vectrix. You'll have to reprogram MC or ESD to match program versions, depending on what firware is installed on the ESD.
Solution 2:
Buy new childboard to vectrixparts for your runke, with latest NIMH firmware. Ask them for the suitable MC firmware to reprogram your motorcontroller.
Hmmm... Don't open? Pigtail connectors? Confusing.
The connectors on the VX3 charger seem to be the same, just on the back not the bottom:
New on the left. Old on the right.
The mounting place is still on the frame of the new ESD to move the connectors to be bottom. The way they are mounted on the back prevents me plugging into my bike as the connectors bend INTO the charger, so they don't fit, but the plugs themselves are identical. I have not had the time to do the take apart. Working on preventing the rain getting into my RV instead. Hopefully when I take the unit apart the connector will easily move and I can tape up the hole left in the back.
If there are little extension cables I could get to keep me from having to take the charger apart, that would be great too. If anyone needs the Runke I don't think I will be doing anything with that.

Ok, Now I see your point.
If you are curious, this is the pigtail connector from 2007:

That would be better. You can ask vectrixparts, they may be able to build extension cables for you.
