Re: My New 2015 Zero SR

I'd make you an offer (and can drive over to CT and tow the bike away), but I think I'm disqualified as I actually enjoy riding and not pain ;-)

Seriously, if I did not think my low-ball offer would offend you, I'd make you one right away. Here is the issue: since what I really want is a '16 model with the new motor and slightly bigger capacity battery, and because the tax incentives on a new bike in MD are quite good, and because it would likely take months to fix your bike after I get it over to a Zero dealer, I'm only going to buy yours at a price that I'm afraid would feel to you like I'd be trying to gain from your pain. Not the case, it just won't make sense financially otherwise for me.

Hope you get it fixed and enjoy it! However, if you are seriously thinking of selling it after you sleep on it, please PM me and we can discuss further - worst case: we don't agree on a price.

... I now have the title for it, and will entertain cash offers from people who enjoy pain, but not actually riding electric motorcycles much.

Re: My New 2015 Zero SR

I'm only offended by low offers when I'm told that a lowball price "is all it's worth." I understand out the door depreciation, and that isn't an issue, as long as you understand that all new Zeros contain hidden dealer fees that amount to $1-$2k more than the MSRP, and you wouldn't have to pay them if buying it used. I'm not going to factor in the bike spending months being repaired, though, as that is only a possibility, not a fact (unless I'm the one having it repaired, of course!). I have thought of one last thing I can try, and if that fails...PM me your offer.

I'm taking my daughter to a spring break trip. When I get back late next week, I will try to test-ride the 2016 models. Will check this thread/PM you after that.

Leftie: just sent you an offer via PM and email - let me know if you got it.

Others: my offer is really low, so of you are thinking of getting Leftie's SR for yourself, you have a really good chance to outdo me :-) So get in touch with him.

Re: My New 2015 Zero SR

Update: after being told by a Zero rep on the phone that they don't deal directly with customers (or, apparently, even respond to email requests from their site) I was able to get a recommendation of sorts to try the closest (120 miles) dealer to me. After emailing that dealer the logs twice (they said that they never received the first email) I'm still waiting for a response. In the meantime:

If you'd like to buy a barely-used-but-glitchy 2015 Zero SR for less than the cost of a 2016 S with 13.0 pack, make me an offer. Cash, you pick the bike up, and me transferring the warranty (~2 years, IIRC) to you is the full extent of my liability. I strongly suggest that you either have a Zero dealer near you, or enjoy hauling motorcycles via trailer or truck long distances on the road. To avoid more offers too low for me to consider, I'll set a floor, and wait until I either have to ship the bike for repair or get an offer I like. I'd love to consider trades, but at this point I think that doing so would make me Certifiably insane.

The floor is $10,750. That's the lowest offer I'll consider, not the offer that gets you the bike for sure. A new 2016 SR 13.0 KWr, after the dealer adds their fees, runs about $18,000 (plus tax where applicable), with you getting 10% of that back from the Feds as a tax rebate. That makes a new SR about $16k after rebate. A new S 13.0 is about $2k less.

I'm not holding my breath, but I really am getting sick of the bike already. It's too much like the old ZEV.

I should have went with a Zero, I bought a ZEV. mostly it was cost that directed me. (I bought used) Big mistake! ZEV is a nightmare to deal with.

Re: My New 2015 Zero SR

I drove 1400 miles to WV to get my zev fixed and spent $900. And after four months still not charging. Sent them the charger and was told it was my fault! Maybe? But can't even get the bad charger back to check it!
So no more ZEV for me. One door stop is enough!

Re: My New 2015 Zero SR

I suggest you read this topic. The Zero was a very expensive nightmare for me, and Zero may be the least responsive motorcycle manufacturer out there. I'm not about to recommend a ZEV either, though, after getting stuck with a bike that was wrecked in transit (it was shipped in a hand-built wooden crate) and then half-assedly 'made like new' by ZEV. As far as I know there are NO makers of good, reliable electric motorcycles or scooters. Whatever you do, don't accept shipment of a damaged bike, or believe claims that the manufacturer will make it "like new" or "better than new." With the ZEV I ended up with a bike that developed a death wobble and had frequent minor electrical failures (including two charger failures) - followed by a controller failure at less than 3000 miles. I eventually sold it for something like $700. With the Zero I got a bike that I could never ride safely, and rode a total of three times, eventually losing about $6k in a deal that got me a good Vectrix VX-1. The Zero dealer who sold me it (Elk Grove Powersports in CA, IIRC) knowingly sold me a bike that had thrown numerous error codes while they had it, despite my begging them to only sell the bike if it was functionally perfect. Neither they nor Zero ever agreed to take the bike back for a refund.

I am 5'7 so had same reason to stick with the S mopdel. However ywo tricks--Handlebar risers help. Slipping the firks up 1.5 inch in the clamps. Get a dual sportc tire swap but make absolutely sure the new tire is lower, not taller, than stock! Thois one cost me changing the rear tire twice.
