How to replace the Vectrix VX1 Motor Controller

Hello Everybody,
It happens that the problem with my Vectrix is the Motor Controller which seems to have a corrupt bootloader.
Now, I need to remoe the Motor Controller from the Bike. After a first look it seems to me, that I have to remove the Batteries first, if not even more. My plan is to remove the Controller and send it to Vectrixparts in Poland for a lowlevel reprograming and after that mount it back into the bike.
Does anyone has expirience with this work and has some kind of description, Pictures or Video that shows how to do it?
Thanks for any ideas.
Simon

I can't remember if I did a video specifically showing how to remove the mc, but look up youtube antiscab

Basically yes, remove the rear battery, undo the nuts on all 5 power leads, undo the screws holding the aluminium cover I. Place. Once that's out of the way, undo the remaining screws on the board, the igbt underneath, and the four small ones that go through the dc-dc at the top.

I'd recommend not putting thr aluminium cover back once you're done. It just gets in the way.

Hi antiscab,
Many thanks for your quick reply, I already was thinking about sending you a PM because of your youtube videos.
OK, that's fine. I will remove the rear batteriepack and then remove the Controller.
I already feared, I have to do that from the backwheel of the scooter (I couldn't see it very well yesterday).

Cool!

Why don't you just download the service manual?

Hi Martin,
thanks for this. I was looking for such a manual but with no success.
I found the service manual on vectrixparts but there is no description regarding the MC. And here in the forum I was not able to find one as well.
If you have a link to it or you can send me the manual. I would be really thankfull.

kind regards
Simon

Re: How to replace the Vectrix VX1 Motor Controller

You can download it here (this has a lot of suff - much more than when I last looked a couple of years back)... http://www.vectrixscene.com

You have to register but that is pretty painless.

I checked my version and the MC replacement is covered. MW

Hi Martin,
Thank you for the Link, I will register there in short time to have the manuals handy.

Thank you also antiscab, I just removed the Motor Controller. Now I can send it in for the reprograming. Maybe it's also a good idea to have one MC spare. Then I just can replace it if something should happen.

Yes sure, I will feed this post with my expirience.
By the way, on my the MC there was no Fuse in place. the MC was connected directly to the Batterie, I would like to change that in the future, I guess it's a bit risky!

What's the max current for the Fuse if I add one? are 125A OK? I guess I have seen this size mentioned somewhere already.

The original Vectrix fuses were only 125A and these were subsequently upgraded to 200A fuses:

Thank you bikemad.
I just thought that 125A is a bit low.

Hmm... that's odd. Try my work email which you can find at the bottom of my webshop front page... www.evbitz.uk.

Also, I forgot to mention the fuse I have is a 200A one.

Have you seen this?
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lViKU44_apw&t=652s - from Matteo Zordan.

If your bootloader is gone - have you tried flashing the MC with the Signum JTAG-JET - that is "all" there is to it.

The bootloader is not the hex-file loaded to the MC via CAN-BUS - ok?!

Re: How to replace the Vectrix VX1 Motor Controller

There are only two of those Jtag loaders still in existence

One with David Dugas in the US, and the other is in The Netherlands

They're presently rarer than hens teeth

The Signum JTAGjet-C2000 is no longer available. You may find them on ebay or other but the internal flasher has to be enabled or it is useless. The flasher was enabled by purchasing a key ($$$) from Signum. I dont think they support it anymore.
And then, you have to have the correct file to download the bootloader as it is not part of the executable code.
