Hi, I would appreciate opinions about this:
After converting to Lithium I kept the NIMH cells, most of then were in good shape.
43 of them ended up in a friends small electric scooter.
This is temporary, cell life is not important. But i wonder, is there any risk?
The charger goes up to 60 V and stops, each cell is charged with 1,4 V.
Most cells are placed in the scooters metal frame. terminals are covered with rubber, but i wonder if anything can occure with the cells housing? Can Voltage end up in the chassis..?
IFyou are sure the charger stops at (go volts) you will be ok. and even if it's grounded to the frame (6o volts) won't hurt you.
I ment (60 volts).
Sorry for that, also the cells need to be banded together real tight.
Thanks. And yes, it do stop at 60 V. First I tried with 40 cells, then it did not stop. I believe charger reduce current when close to full, and it never reached 60 V. - Now, with 43 cells it stops :)
A small consern: If two cells get an internal error, - with connection to ground. -That could be a short-cirquit.
Well, they are not banded together, but they sits in a metal frame. When charged, they are stuck.
And then glued with sicaflex..:)
IT still would be good to wrap all the cells together with several wraps with quality duct tape real tight since the glue may strecth .and the cells if internal short would not electrify the frame.
Thanks for good advice. - I did not think bout tape. - Now most cells are isolated, tape might solve the rest :)
