Re: having fun with my PR200

If I could have gotten Razor to buy my "G-Force" prototype, then I would be there already...other then that I am the poor'est person in EV's I do belive, all my bikes have batteries that need to be taken out and replaced, but no cash to even fix my motors right now means no cash for batteries as well.

Shooooot, today I broke the frame on my main bike in a freeky turn.... Now I will have to add like 3 pounds in gussets to piece her back together safely. I am probably one of the smarter L-EV people on here and cant show it because no money to put twards my dreams, if I could I would have had the "EV-Pocket Bike" racing league started in 2006, but now nearing 2008 and all I have is a very well put together plan on a base line for this sport, a Dry cell pocket bike with enuff power to pull a camper(just joking!) next to the Ampflow motors I will use with them and a high end controller the bikes should be as fast if not faster then most bikes on the tracks already!

If any one would like to offer help in this, I would be very VERY glad and promise that the bike that comes froms plans and dreams would be the sickest EVpocket bike that EVEN S.E.V.O. would be proud of

Have you thought of trying to get funding from trusts/charities? I think Gman might know of specific groups to approach, the other person to contact would be Bill Moore of www.evworld.com who setup his site with a grant from a charitable trust.

From the sounds of it you might have good case. Here's some ideas on the way you could present a case.

1 The environmental angle. EV pocketbikes are clean, environmenatally friendly technology that don't use carbon emmiting fossil fuels, don't pollute communites with local air pollution and can be held indoors without complicated air extraction systems thus are a solution to noise pollution objections to gas pocketbikes events. They would also help toward the goal of energy indepndence in the leisure sector.

2 The economic/urban regeneration angle. There's a lot of talk about EV's/ Phev's being a future transport technology for america but if thats to happen thousands of American mechanics are going to have to get an understanding of they work. An EV pocketbike with an educational dimension would help expose youngsters to an up and coming technology on a practical level that would help future employment etc

3 The educational angle. Could an EVpocketbike league be something that schools could participate in? EV technology is a great hands on way to learn about basic electrical physics, I think why you see so many solar racing teams.

You might also want to get some kind of qualification in electrical safety(if you don't have one already) or team up with someone that does. Authorties of all differnt kind seem to get nervous about electrical stuff.

Re: having fun with my PR200

In 2005 some people on visforvoltage.com (the predecessor to this site) had gotten involved with pocket bike and standup scooter racing. There's a league based in southern california which also held races in the SF Bay Area. They're racing gasser vehicles, but gave some kinda dispensation for the EV's to race. And I think the EV's made a good showing, but don't remember the details. For the standup scooters the goped 750 was popular.
