I read some older threads on the Kasea and am wondering what people's current thoughts are on the ZE2000 model: quality, speed, range. Any owners out there? Has anyone had it above 40mph...do they really go above 40mph? Also, there was some mention of easily modifying the controller to get 60v, 100amps out of it. Anyone know more about that?
Thanks,

Well I probably had some post in there, basically I believe what you'll find is they are all the same or very close. Out the box 2000 Watts is 2000 Watts. You can probably do some Mods to improve it, but with 3000 Watts now on the market, I think your best option is to start with a 3000 Watt Vespa style E Scooter and mod it.
Your going to need some way of charging it at work if it's SLA I believe. A EV Tech Advisor like Andrew can probably give you a better answer on the best type of Batteries to use.
There is also a Solar setup you could use How to convert an EVT 4000E electric scooter to a solar scooter to charge your Batteries.
I guess we need to finally do a Kasea ZE-2000 V is for Voltage Community
Jacky may have some additional information since they seem to have been involved with Kasea.

Yes, I'm having trouble figuring out mod options. Can't discern what battery options fit with what controller, etc.
Also, I found out via a vendor that Kasea is being taken over by a company called eMoto and some other options for them are now available. I'll post more when I get the photos and specs.

I currently own the ZE-2000 model and have been subjecting it to various types of tests under different
conditions.
First off, these silicone batteries. There is absolutely no information whatsoever, anywhere
on proven cycle life of these. These are supposedly, according to the guineng website, similiar to lead acid
batteries minus the sulfuric acid electrolyte. The electrolyte is replaced with a solid silica salt compound.
They don't mention anything about replacing the lead with other materials so I'll assume they still use lead
in them.
As far as range is concerned, I have put about 500 miles on these batteries and I travel on roads
with speedzones in the 35-40 mph range, oh and yes I do keep up with traffic and get all kinds of funny looks.
I have taken it in ranges that push the limits of what the specs claim without issue so far. Here is what I have
found: On a full charge, going an average speed of about 25-30 mph, you can go almost 30 miles. Going a little
faster in those 40 mph zones you can only expect about a 20 mile range(max)out of these batteries. I will be
creating a performance journal over the next year or so and might post it online for the few people that do
actually care.
Speed: I weigh 190 lbs and I can, in modest 75 F temperatures, get this scooter up to 42 mph on a straight away.
I have found that heat above 85 F outside will take off a few miles of this number. There is a jumper you have
to remove from the motor controller on the side of the bike to make it go faster than 28 mph. It's the only
jumper on the PCB so it should be obvious.
Quality: This is a great scooter by far, even though it's made in china and has a slightly annoying vibration hum to the motor in low speeds. My only complaint is that the chargers that come with the unit have a defective power relay in them, from what I can tell. So far I've had two chargers that I've had to ship back. Neither of them worked for a whole charge. I did find a 48v 2a replacement brand, although it takes about 14 hours to fully charge with two of them. They have worked well so far. http://www.monsterscooterparts.com/48vo25amp3ba.html
My recommendation to anyone thinking of buying one of these is before you spend a dime, make sure they send you a
title for it and don't buy the chargers. Just the bike, since the customer service I have received from kasea is
absolutely horrible. Don't be surprised if you find out you can't get these anymore because they went out of
business due to poor QA and lack of responsible management. Hope this review helps anyone out there thinking of
buying one.
The Kasea scooters use the same controller and motor as the e-max.
The e-max controller has a history of some defects - the large power capacitors in it are not adequately secured and have been known to come detached from the board after a 1000 to 2000 miles use in areas with rough streets.
But, on the plus side the controller can be fairly easily modified for 60 volt usage as well as upgrading the amperage to at least 95 amps for more power. Search the e-max threads on this site...
That's exactly where I'm going with this... I'm trying to get ahold of the sales folks over at A123 and valence to see about a replacement pack anywhere between 50-60 volts and of course many more ah. The cycle life on the cell level is
supposedly good for 10 years min. On a pack level I would imagine the same results.
The sad part here is that very few people actually care about these things. I guess this was the reason why I haven't recieved a refund for a defective chinese manufactered charger that never went through QA, and also after 3 months of trying to get ahold of someone over at kasea for a mco. Without a title or mco, all the electronics skills in the world
won't do you a bit of good. Another indication of this is that nobody over there ever picks up the phone. Saying they don't make any money off of these is a good reason to not care is a pathetic excuse for not picking up the phone.
My understanding is that Kasea dropped ZE-2000 and that a new company, EMoto, picked up the distribution rights to it. That may explain at least some of the issues you have had with customer service.

So, who is Kasea. Are they still in business? Who are the owners and what is their experience in the EV business. Does anyone know about e-moto are they the same owners as Kasea but a new name. Forgive me but I am new to this forum, but it looks like Jacky is the manufacturer and he/she should be able to explain why the emoto and kasea look the same.
Okay, so here is the what I understand to be true. E-Max was originally designed and sold in Germany, then imported to the U.S. That company abandoned the designs and the chinese manufacturer, Topmotorx (Jackie's company) retained the manufacturing rights. Topmotorx sold one of the four models he had to a scooter, motorcross and ATV ICE company called Kasea. Kasea marketed and sold the ZE-2000 here in the U.S. This model was a different design than the E-Max other folks have but all the same components and wiring. Kasea recently relinquished the rights to sell this vehicle in the U.S. and opened the door for a company called E-Moto to pick them up. E-Moto is based out of Washington state and run by a guy name Casey Binz. They sell all four of Topmotorx's line. The Kasea ZE-2000 is available still but is all old stock. All of E-Moto's stock has a manufacturing stamp of June 2007 or later.

So is Kasea out of business or is Topmotorx owned by Kasea or the other way around. Seems like there is some connection between Kasea and Topmotorx I am not seeing. I know the original Kasea was owned by brother Ken and Steve Leighty, are they still around?
I did a little more research and came out more confused then when I started.
I know that Topmotorx is the Chinese manufacturer. I know that E-Moto is the distributor in the United States.
Kasea used to be the United States distributor. I THOUGHT that Kasea had stopped ordering from Topmotorx and so E-Moto was born and started ordering from Topmotorx.
The Kasea company is still around, selling gas-powered stuff. They do still list the ZE-2000 as one of their bikes.
Here is where I get confused...Kasea International claims to be a U.S. company that set up a manufacturing plant in mainland China and manufactures their own stuff to import to the U.S. But I KNOW they imported the ZE-2000 from Topmotorx and that the E-Max Sport, the Kasea ZE-2000 and the entire E-Moto line use the exact same build layout and components. The batteries inside the E-Motos and the Kaseas even have the E-Max logo rubbed out but still visible on them!

So is there any way you can think of to look up or research who the owners of all three are. Kasea, E Moto and Topmotorx are? That just might clear things up. Seems like there should be a way to do this and then see if some names show up on multiple companies.
That's a good idea.
