Re: The "Cheetah" What! I can't be!
Yeah, Dallas is probably a tough town for e-biking.
But it's not the size of city, it's how they lay out the streets. Nearly all of where I live, Pittsburgh, is neighborhood streets - there are very few freeways or 55 mph drags. But, you do need hill climbing ability. With my mods it will go 35 mph even up a 9-10% slope.
180 lbs is pretty light. My e-max with the booster battery for switchable 60 volt usage is probably close to 300 lbs. In Pennsylvania it has to be registered as a motorcycle anyway.
I was no motorcyclist before I got my e-max and I learned a lesson tonight. Going up a long grade, I dumped the damn thing at about 30 mph on curve - which happened to be the last piece of road that hadn't dried from rains earlier in the day. Damage included a broken but still operable rear brake lever, some scuffing of the stronger-than-they-appear plastic body panels, and bruises and scrapes down my left leg. The slick spot that initiated the skid was a mere 6" wide strip of smooth asphalt sealant around a road repair. It was like stepping on a banana peel - "ssffftt" went the rear wheel from underneath the scooter! It may be time for me to look at some new tires as well.
I fly hang gliders, but I an convinced that 2-wheel vehicles have at least as much inherent danger and require even a greater level of awareness and judgment than anything done airborne under a wing.

Might I suggest taking a motorcycle safety training course?

Hiya Chuck!
Well, your rear tire has 3000 miles on it ... that sounds like about as good as one could expect, I'd think.
My rear tire just went flat today ... probably 120-150 miles on it - Cheap Walmart tire :D
I noticed that the knobbys were worn down in the middle, ridding nice and slow and she went POP!!__Shhhhhhhhhhhhh.
Had to walk it home, blew a hole in the tire about 3/8" dia.
I guess ya DO get what ya pay for, I need a new one now too.
Is yours a 26 x 2.5? $30 or so?
Do these have a Kevlar belt?
If so, I think I'll get some unless you can recommend something better under $40.
My front tire is fine, even though it's another cheap walmart tire, little if any wear on mine either.
Do you just use a standard 26" tube?
Can't wait to see those pics of the Cheetah!
Thanks for any info you can provide on the tires.

My motorcycle friends call these "tar snakes." Very slick when wet. They can be pretty soft and slick on a very hot day, too. Definitely something to watch out for. I never noticed them until I rode over one on an Emax. Whee! I wonder why they don't bother bicycles?

Glad I didn't get a 26 x 2.5 ... the 26 x 2.35 is the max that my frame has room for.
I was glad to find out that my rim was true or I'd-a-been hurtin'.
I'm really liking the fat tire seems to freewheel (roll) easier now ... of course it's almost a slick.
Now I'm contemplating on what I want on the front ... does your Cheetah have same front and rear?
The only place that I don't feel that I'm getting better traction than with the knobbys is on gravel ... that's a bit of a scary feeling.

Airborne,
Nice aviator,
same tire on front and rear, never had clearance issues on the front.
Probably my last post here, unless I see some changes.
