They light up when I use the indicator but they do not flash on and off, nor do I get the clicking sound I am used to when the signals flash. EVT, of course, does not respond to my query. Anyone out there have an idea for me to try?

It seems like your flasher relay is broken, if I remember right you should be able to replace it with any 2-pole 12V flasher relay.

Are you sure both the front and back lights are on? If one of them is burned out then it won't flash, will just stay on. they're super easy to replace, bulb available at any autoparts store. just push in the bulb and twist clockwise and it pops out. good luck!
