hopping up a Panterra Freedom scooter

w I was given by my brother-in-law what appeared to be a fairly new Freedom that has 41 miles on it. The owner (who gave it to my bro-in-law) crashed on a dirt road and vowed never to ride it again. Is there a controller out there that works well (Kelly??) for this scooter. It's in good shape for going down and I would like to get it up to 40 mphish. Any thoughts or direction?
