Test pilots wanted!
Receive a $2,000 discount on your Current Motor Company motorscooter in exchange for providing monthly feedback, allowing Current Motor to use your name and story
in publicity, and allowing us to address any unexpected glitches.
Additionally, test pilots receive a $300 referral bonus for purchases made as a result of people seeing your bike. Test pilots receive priority and preferential pricing on all future trade-ins and upgrades.
All bikes are safe, fully certified and fit for the purpose being sold.
Have you ever noticed that while early adopters are a company's most important customers they actually get the worst deal? Usually they pay the highest price and have to suffer through the unexpected glitches that come with any new, complex product. At Current Motor we pride ourselves on being open and transparent, and for being different than the others. So, we're offering you all this $2,000 discount and the opportunity to be a partner with us in making the C1x line of bikes even better than they already are.
This pricing means you can get our Deluxe/C130 with a "real world" 50 mile range and a 65+mph top speed for only $5,999 and you can get our entry level bike with 30 mile range / 55+mph top speed for $4,499.
Full details of the program can be found here: http://www.currentmotor.com/test-pilot-program/
The number of sales at this price is still TBD but we won't be running this program forever - so stop on by today and sign up!
(Sorry, but at this time our bikes are only offered for sale in the USA.)
Sweet, I like the test pilot program! Seriously thinking about it . . .
A few questions on your bikes:
- Other than cost and a little bit of weight, is there any downside to the Deluxe vs. the Standard? i.e. Do they have the same under seat storage space? Differences in handling?
- Under the "Order Now" button, the cost of the Deluxe is $7499, and elsewhere it's $7999. Is it $7999 or $7499?
- Are you ready to ship these now? If not, when?
- Any photo's of the green color?
- The "optional" storage trunk is mentioned, but no photo's, price or way to order. Can you provide some details?

Tsk, Tsk,Tsk, this is a straight sales pitch, but real good one!!! Lets see, which shall we buy, lets consider the alternatives, A)a Comoco quality product, built in the US, whose careful development we have all followed with admiration,B)a dodgy PRC/Israeli bike, C) A brand engineered Vectrix, from who knows where??
A very good marketing concept.
BTW, a Great launch article in Autoblog Green, with a lot of positive feedback! Keep it up.
Whaaaat!! So much for the ANZUS treaty! You can expect a stern note from our Foreign Minister, and diplomatic reprisals. (Well, when we can get him out of whatever embarrassing mess he's created, and stop him whining about the members of his own government, not adhering to Dickensian grammar).
Mark my words, you haven't heard the last of this latest typical, Yankee imperialist, insult!!!
If we're good enough for Oprah, were certainly good enough for, well....
Heh, heh, scared eh? Bet y'all wouldn't give it a go downunder in the great brown dry land, ('cept most of it's under floods right now). Anyway as Matt and Mik will tell you we've already got better! We'll up your 2 wheels and make it four! ( well all right guys, technically it's a car, if you want to be pedantic, but I bet this stupid yank wouldn't know the difference).
And I'm NOT JEALOUS!!!!
Good Luck, (Mum says I've got to go in for my dinner now).
It's been a long journey, John, and your dream is finally becoming reality! We all salute the newest EV manufacturer.

There's a few photos of my green bike in this thread.
My electric vehicle: CuMoCo C130 scooter.
The Standard and the Economy both offer slightly better acceleration because they're lighter. Emphasis on "slightly". They all have same under seat storage as of today. However, we're in the process of re-designing the battery box and there's a small possibility that the 30 cell will loose some (max 20%) of it's under seat storage.
Sorry about that. $7,499 is the 2010 MSRP. $7,999 is the 2011 MSRP (so it should be $7999 everywhere). I will take the webmaster out back and beat him severely (currently I'm the webmaster :-( ). The Test Pilot Price is $5,999.
Standard and Economy models can ship within 2 to 4 weeks of order placed. Deluxe will ship late March / early April. We're working with our motor controller supplier updating the software in that controller.
See above (thanks Mike!)

What we're doing at the moment is having customers order a Shad trunk and having it shipped to us and we'll fit it free of charge. I've been sending folks to www.cycleluggage.com (I have no affiliation with these guys). This is a nice case: http://www.cycleluggage.com/shad-sh40c-top-case.html. In the future we will be stocking cases and other accessories but for now this has been working well.

Thanks for the kind words and for the post over on abg.
And there ends a beautiful friendship.... Sorry about the US focus. Give us a year (and another couple of million) and we'll conquer the world! (or something like that).
Indeed, it's been (and continues to be) a roller-coaster ride. The ride's not over yet - we're getting there though!
Thanks again - and you could always move to the US... ;-)

That's a great idea John I might take you up on that. Maybe I'll sell one of my trikes and buy on of you're bikes. I would love to be able to contribute to your companies efforts.
This is my latest build,KMX 20hp trike it's a riot, check out the link, and by the way, I really am kind of a test pilot. Notice the electric bike on the plane in the photo. On the V link my trike is at the bottom, the black one.

John,
What is the current status of the C130 development? I assume you finished the battery repackaging project. Did it impact the volume of under seat storage? Can a full face helmet fit in there? What about reprogramming the controller? Anything else ongoing?

Is the Test Pilot deal still going on? I was lucky enough to get an RMartin EVO (while they lasted) last year shipped to me for $2300 and I just love it. With only 1500 miles on it, I am seriously thinking of selling it (not hard to do with gas prices the way they are) and picking up one of these bikes with the Test Pilot incentive, if it is still going on.

Hi Alan,
C1x development is ongoing. We have transitioned to GBS cells (still the same count and capacity). We now build our packs off-bike and insert them as a complete unit. It has slightly reduced under-seat storage - a full face helmet can't fit underseat (and couldn't before anyway). My laptop bag fits under the seat along with an extension cord and a kill-a-watt meter.
Two of the things we're working on are an LCD display to give the rider more information and improved motor cooling.

Hi Shawn,
Yes, the Test Pilot incentive is still available on all 3 models.

John,
Have you had any concerns about the continued availability of GBS cells, and the possibility that they may need to be replaced with Thunderskys in a future pack replacement? Will the BMS boards and battery box dimensions be comparable with such a cell change?
Is it GBS yellow version cell or new green version with PCM ?
While under seat storage is very convenient, and let's fact it, in exactly the right place for weight handling, there should be a well integrated storage solution available. Givi has high-quality trunks and more importantly, hard side bags that share the trunk key and are removable. THe whole kit can be around 450-700, and is designed to look good and last a lifetime. If you live on the bike I do, you would gladly trade any under-seat room for batt capability or enhanced serviceability. I will let the group know how the Givi unified mounting comes along.
