4WD rear end mod

Hello, Folks. - Has anyone "out there" ever modified a 4WD vehicle
to act as a hybrid, where the front wheels do their normal thing
with the front wheels, and the rear drive shaft is disconnected and
replaced with an electric drive motor connected to the rear differential
to drive just the rear wheels?
