Quick battery question

Hay! I'm fairly new to this stuff so please forgive me if this is a noobie question!

I picked up a EVT 168 and the battery range is about 6 miles. I emailed a battery salesperson and they said the batteries I have are the wrong kind, I have stand-by batteries instead of cyclic ones. Is this right?

Also, can anyone in the UK recommend the correct battery?

Thanks very much for the help!

Mike

Re: Quick battery question

Some more info would be helpful, did you buy the scooter second hand?
Does it have the original batteries or have you bought new ones?
Brand of batteries?

Regards

Re: Quick battery question

Do the new EVT-168s use Lithium cell / batteries? I have a XM-3000 and when the pack gave up the ghost I went and put in the cheapest and the best battery pack for the monies I cold find. I figured I only needed ten to 15 miles per charge vs 24 or 25 on 38 AH pack that was in there. So I went with EVX-12200 12 volt 20 AH pack and now I can get 18 miles some times to dead. I think the range is do to lighter pack and same voltage but just less AH. Half of 38 is 19 so range shaould be half of 24 or 25 = 12 miles but is slightly better. I used the old working 38 AH pack for my radios which is 24 to 28 volt. Two batteries were toast two good and one so so one. my range went from 24 -25 miles down to 4 or 5 miles. I load tested them and verfied it on chart. Weight is a lot less and plus I used same battery box with an empty space left over on top battery. So what is your needs and range. Do you need LiFePO4 or big 12 volt 38 Ah pack? I am going to try and use my scoot during snow covered roads if I can without an accident or just plain getting stopped for being out there.

Re: Quick battery question

Heya! Sorry, I picked up the moped 2nd hand, it is the 2003 model. The current batteries are 4x Yuasa NP38-12I. They fit in very snug.

I've contacted a supplier who sells those batteries, and he said that they are stand-by batteries, I would instead need cyclic ones, like the NPC38-12. I'm not sure if this make and style are the original ones, as looking at the website, the moped is listed as needing 4 12v 50ah ones.

I haven't a clue about lithium batteries and would prefer to just use the ones the manufacturer intended.

Thanks for your time!

Mike
