The 2012 TT ZERO ran today at 3:40 PM GMT on the Isle of Man. It was a field of 9 electric motorcycles at the TT ZERO starting line, but only four finished the race.
One of the main hopes for this TT ZERO was that one of the teams would "break the ton" meaning turn in a lap speed over 100 miles/hr. Last year (http://www.examiner.com/article/motoczysz-wins-2011-ttzero-electric-motorcycle-race-on-the-isle-of-man) Mike Rutter, riding for MotoCzysz, nearly broke that speed level with a 99 miles/hr lap speed. The Isle of Man Government has offered a £10,000 prize fund to the first rider to break the ton, and it took Rutter a year to do it but he did it today.
