Need Help

I have a Electric Bike that I purchase used. It has a 3000w motor on it and 60v battery. My problem is I'm getting only 40 mph. I took a look at the controller. I found 4 shunts and there is 3 more space availble to add. I need to find out if there is any other ways I can speed up this bike other than adding shunts and if I add shunts will it work.

Re: Need Help

My humble belief is that speed limiter ( probably two gray wires if old stuff are connected - or a three prong connector) is the culprit . In the last case then there must be a three position switch -similar to turn signal- that must be activated . It takes about 3 seconds for the stronger speed to kick in and it won't engage if the cruise control is on . By the wattage there must be some more speed to tap on.LOOK A CONTROLLER'S WIRING. Good luck

Re: Need Help

If this is an X-Treme scooter, then 40MPH is about what the top speed should be. I have an XM3000 and it will do 43 (well, it would before it died, anyway). This isn't unusual at all for this size scooter. Now if you mean an electric *bicycle* with a 3000 watt motor and 60 volt pack it night go faster - and probably kill you. I think, though, that you mean a scooter.

Re: Need Help

Well then , things are getting better since a simple xb-600 motor( max output 600 watts /not geared) along with a 15 ah 60 volt ping battery pack and a sunwim 60v 800w ---only 27 amp system/MAX CURRENT --- gets close to that speed nowadays .All that extra wattage was designed for lead batts and heavy duty DOT certified parts and x-treme was dragging an anchor on the limiter.Other than a better controller, a taller rubber tire would gain more distance on a revolution . Good Luck

Re: Need Help

I think that will work but there should be some other patent ways too.
