When I was at the Alt Car Expo. Vectrix people said they had more models in the works.

Here are some prototype shown at the Milan Moto Show.

Very very nice Gio. Those are some sexy beasties. I bet they are bringing those to EVS23. :)

Re: Vectrix unveiled Electric Superbike and Trike Concept

The Suprbike is just a model of something that does not exist, at all. The idea for Vectrix was to see if the public liked the way the bike looked, and then they were going to try to manufacture it and sell it as a limited edition for $60,000. Again, this bike does not exist, it’s just a model. This was a project started by Carlo Diabigio, former Ducati Director, but Vectrix has since fired Carlo and replaced him with some person who is lost in this 2 wheel world. The Superbike won’t be built, and is another example how Vectrix loves to sell the HYPE, not the real thing!

Vectrix, is a joke of a company along with their bike. Truth: there 2 wheeler can only go a range of 30 to maybe 38 miles total! The bike weighs 525 lbs., and they are supposed to switch to Lithium batteries in 9 months, late 2008; so why waste you money now? $12,000 +, this is way too much for a scooter! Also, they have SEVERE software issues that give false readings for estimated range, after cruising along for 10 miles or so, it immediately drops down to zero miles range, and no battery left!!

You know why they have home delivery service? Because Vectrix bike wont go far enough to get to your home and they are afraid that it will break down on the way home, too!

The company is run by wanna be that do not understand the real world demands of electric. Their arrogant group back in Rhode Island are nothing but a bunch of former yachts men, playing with electrical toys they do not know how to manufacturer.

Oh, the Vectrix bike is made in Poland! Why not the good old USA??

Advice: stay away from Vectrix, they are selling the hype. The bike looks nice on the outside, but it doesn’t hold up in the real world!

What about this three wheeler - seems that is may replace a city car?
I this also a vectrix make?

PS: here is my light threewheeler

Next thing is to equip it with front drive - I'm still searching for a controller capable to insert some logic easily into it creating adaptive behaviour of motors when spun at different speed. I think I will start with 120W each.

Re: Vectrix unveiled Electric Superbike and Trike Concept

The three wheeler is real. They brought some to EVS-23 for people to try out. Wouldn't let me do it, though. Some crap about not having a license and being underage. Whatever.

The general consensus seemed to be favorable. Still didn't like it near as much as the superbike...

Re: Vectrix unveiled Electric Superbike and Trike Concept

Isn't that three wheeler just a converted Piaggio MP-3? The MP-3 is a three wheeled ?Vespa? that's even available in the U.S. now. San Jose Vespa carries it. Last year, April 2006, they announced a hybrid-electric version of the MP-3, and I made a posting here: http://www.7gen.com/blog-entry/electric-vehicles/hybrid-electric-scooter/1139 ... at the time it appeared to have a smallish battery pack (26 AH). I didn't track down what Vectrix was going to do with it, however. I just remember reading once that Vectrix's three wheeler was going to be based on the MP-3.

Re: Vectrix unveiled Electric Superbike and Trike Concept

Hi,

great info. The Trike is unique since it has two covered seats unlike the old BMW C2 and its Italian counterpart. However I would guess the wind screen is to small at the lower end, to protect hands and legs. The problem with the three wheel design is that it is rather expensive. So I would expect some success only after some synergistic effects with electric propulsion are utilised:

- have two cheap hub motors in the front wheels
- have the batteries at a low centre of gravity between the wheels
etc..

cheers

Efried

Agreed: all I will say is that I live in the real world and I am not disappointed so far as to how it holds up... Have a nice day pointman and take a camomile tea ;)
