Energy Crossroads: A burning need to change course - it's a documentary going over the energy situation facing our society. It is full of the peak oil message, that essentially says our society has used in 150 years approximately 1/2 of the fossil oil available on this planet. That fossil oil took 5 million years to produce so if we continue using it at current rates we'll run out by 2150 and then have another 5 million years to wait for the next fossil fuel driven bubble. But in reality the peak oil model says when we reach the halfway point the supply will not be able to keep increasing, and that in the short term future we will start seeing the availability of oil be drastically less than the demand.
That's the crossroad - how do we, us, our society, how do we collectively learn how to deal with this crisis. They go over several known ways to deal with it, if only our society would get out of denial.
