z-20 top speeds

I installed a bike trip meter (Cat Eye Velo 5) on my scooter. I cant remember what I set for the tire size, but I checked out the speed with a gps and I was only about .5 mph higher at 38mph.

With this meter I get about 41.5mph on level ground. So about 41mph adjusted. What is everyone else seeing?

Can you post information/pictures on the install?
I thought about doing this, in fact I bought a bike speedo, but could not find a good way to mount the magnet(the speedo ended up on my bicycle :-)

I mounted the relay on the speedometer hub. I then routed the cable up under the plastic cover and out between the 2 plastic pieces on the dash. I crazy glued the magnet to the wheel. I dont like the mount of the actual unit, but I have not taken any time to redo it, because it works...

Cut the sender off and shove the wire in one of your HALS from the motor at the controller, does the same thing as the magnet, thats how we mod the Cycle Analyst to pick up speed from the motor pulses instead of the magnet pickup it ships with.

To calibrate, place duct tape on rear wheel so it hits and makes a noise on each rpm, set throttle low for 60 rpm, use a stop watch and count, when wheel size setting matches 60 on speedo or 6, then you can do the final math to set tire size from that wheel size setting.

Re: z-20 top speeds

shove the wire in one of your HALS

Can you clarify that a little, to be sure I understand?'
Do you mean splice the wires together?
Or are you saying put it next to the wire, and it will pick up the signal?
Thanks!
