Have questions about two controllers

On the DCX can this controller be used w/ a non sepex motor and just not use the field
terminals? On the curtis see the pin just to the right of the bat. pos. terminal
what the phuck is it for and why does this controller half way though a 5k,10k and20k go straight
to full trottle no9 matter what i do ?????????1205-117
