I was looking at an old electric outboard motor from the '50s, and it occurred to me that it might have potential for an electric scooter project I've been contemplating. A tidy, one-piece unit with a built-in "swing-arm" and right-angle drive, it's rated at 1hp.
Has anyone heard of repurposing an outboard to power a land-based EV? I know that sports and racing cars in the '50s and '60s were sometimes powered by (gas-powered) inboard boat motors, so maybe it's not too much of a stretch...
