Installed two Lashout 400 brushless motors but where are the controllers?

I feel real stupid asking this, but for the life of me, I can't find the controllers on the Lashout 400 chassis. I've looked too. Scooter ran, but unless I've been painting with a leaky mask, somting wong! Throw a chimp a banana and I'll put you on my X-mas list!

The controller in those 400W Brushless motors is built into the motor.

X-Mas List? Hmmmm.... Let me see ... How about a Circuit City Gift Card?

Excellent, thanks for the reply. It started out as a 24 volt system, but I ramped up to 36 volts. Any problems with the controller taking that amount of juice? I am using one of those mini-moto 36 volt batterys. Awsome battery!! I am going to find a way to put batteries back into the storage area, but will probably be doing some cutting. One other question, is there any problems running two motors off of the one throttle??

The internal controller in your 24V motor MIGHT be able to handle the 36V. I've been afraid to try that. Since they are integral to the motor, they have to contend with the heat generated from the motor as well as the heat they produce themselves. I'd guess they would fail if pushed a little too hard. (but, I know you would never do that)
If you blow out the controller, you will still have a good motor but you would have to disassemble the motor and "un-pot" the controller and then have the knowledge and skill to be able to bypass the internal controller and use an external brushless controller.

The two-motors-on-one-throttle question has been talked about here in the last few months. I believe it was in relation to a Kollmorgen 400W, which I think are very similar to the motors used on Lashouts. As I recall, the answer was that, yes, you could split the signal from one 5K pot throttle and send it to both controllers. I think it was deemed theoretically possible, but I'm not certain anyone's actually tested it.

Looks like you've got 2 more chances to be on the bleeding edge again...

Well I'm glad I hooked it up before reading of the perils involved in joining the "sister". Ignorance is bliss and call me lucky. Eveerything appears to be find. I split the wires to the throttle as with the motors. Running that little Mini Moto 36 volt battery that I got for $10.00 at t salvage yard and it runs like a champ. Although it does sound like a mac truck starting off, but it flys to full throttle. I have ordered a new rear sprocket to get high end up. Right nowm I'm maxed out at 24 mph. I keep thinking 2 motors instead of 2 400 watt motors and I expect more. I wonder how this would work with 3 motors??? hymm.

E-doggies,
do you know how to bypass an internal controller? seems to me once bypassed, I would have only 2 leads coming from the motor. any tips, links, schematics would be helpful. thankyou
