LifePO4 battery pack runnin at 53V

I contacted a seller on ebay who has a great deal on Lifepo4 48v 20ah battery packs. I asked if he could make me one that was 54v rather than 48v. I figured that an extra 6v would give me a small amount of extra power without having to modify my controller. His response was "My 48V battery can reach 53V." Does this mean my bike will run faster with this pack or would that just e a peak voltage for a second or two? Is it worth building a pack that is rated at 54V? Re: LifePO4 battery pack runnin at 53V

Lifepo4 float charge is 3.4V per cell. A fully charged 16s pack will yield a voltage of 54.4V, but I think dogman can answer your question about ebay lifepo4 batteries better then I can :) To answer your second question, yes, your bike will run faster with the extra voltage. My bike goes about 5km/h faster with lifepo4 then it did with SLA.

Your welcome!

.....but, you know for an extra $195 you can get 48v 20ah pack with 6amp charger from elite power solutions which is much better then a duct tape battery from ebay.

Actually with the shpping charges it is only about $100 more. Thanks, I will order that one when it is available march 31. It also says max voltage is 58v. I hope that won't blow my controller.

Re: LifePO4 battery pack runnin at 53V

Haven't heard good or bad or even what kind of cell is inside volgoods packs. Chances are if it's really cheap, it's the 18650 round cells inside. Better duct tape packs, like Pingbattery use a prismatic cell that is more likely to last. But you do have to build or find a box to protect the duct tape batteries.

If you have a WE bl36 controller, those seem to take 48v sla pretty well since peukerts takes that initial 58 volts or so down to the 40's pretty quick. A lifpo4 may run a pretty high voltage for a long while. So a couple of fried WE controllers have turned up that were run on 48v lifepo4 packs.

Be the pack leader.
