A year or so ago some news floated about ZAP having bought the rights to the Detroit Electric brand name and having brought Albert Lam on board to help out. He had been the CEO of Lotus Engineering. ZAP had cool futuristic vaporware images on their web site of a car that was supposedly going to be designed in cahoots with Lotus and sold under this brand name.
Now there's a new announcement. Albert Lam is still the CEO but ZAP is nowhere to be found in the announcement. And at $25000 it's coming in at a lower price than Tesla's Model S.
The units are said to have a single charge capacity of 111 miles when under the hood of the 'city range' model and a 200 mile range in 'extended range' model form.
