I'm continuing the trial of different features on voltageforums.net .. The latest is a module that lets you list your location and it displays user locations on a google map widget.
It's looking pretty good.

Support V is for Voltage
I added the user locations support.
If you go to your My Account page and edit your account, there is a section labeled "Locations". Click on that to open it up and it lets you enter your location. You can also browse a map widget for the location, and once you have your location on the map you can simply click on the map.
The map showing all of us is in the navigation menu under "Users by location".
