This presentation was given at last weekends EAA Silicon Valley chapter meeting. One of the local members has gone through conversion of a Honda CRX. As he explains his goal was 100 mile range at highway speed, and he's most of the way there.

The conversion uses thundersky 160 AH cells. Further the guy is a hardware designer (e.g. works on tiny USB powered devices) and he has applied that hardware knowledge to a custom designed battery management system. The BMS is on a board that is bolted directly to the power connectors on the cells. There is one BMS board per cell, and it relies on an on-board charger for each cell meaning it is using a bank charging system.
