For some reason I'm getting a little stumped. I'm starting work again on my three wheel motorcycle to see if I can get that running and on the road. One issue is to redo the wiring for the lighting system including the turn signals.
I did this once before on the Lectra motorcycle but I didn't write anything down ...and...
IIRC what you do is use a turn signal relay - it connects an input to two outputs (Single pole, double throw), each output is connected to one turn signal, and on the input you connect the flasher gizmo. The flasher gizmo is put in line with a light bulb and automagically makes the bulb blink.
Sounds simple and the few wiring diagrams yahoogle turns up agree with it.
But I wire it up on the table top and it doesn't work. The flasher gizmo doesn't even make the light flash.
I even took the working flasher gizmo out of my Lectra and it doesn't make the light flash. But if I put it back in the Lectra, the turn signals on the Lecrta do flash.
Ergle..
On the super bright LED's .com site they have some kind of special turn signal relay for use with LED's claiming that LED's have such low power draw it misleads the circuits into thinking there's nothing there.
Hurm...
http://www.nationaltbucketalliance.com/tech_info/electrical/lights/flasher.asp -- shows how to hook up a load resistor just like those super bright guys said would be needed. And, uh, it works, now the flashers make the lights flash. Yipeedoodle.
FWIW - http://www.nationaltbucketalliance.com/tech_info/electrical/Headlights/relay.asp - shows the connections to use on the turn signal relay.
And this gives another view to wiring the lighting system .. http://www.accessconnect.com/trailer_wiring_diagram.htm
And this goes over the issue with LED lights .. http://www.bugmanweb.com/gsxr/flasher.html
And this page has a diagram much like what I remembered ... http://www.sporttwin.com/Forums/viewtopic/p=39116.html
