Tubes and tires for XB-600

Does anybody know where to get quality tubes and tires for the XB-600? I got a flat today and had to walk this thing a couple of miles to get home. Captainslug got his new tires from bikebandit.com (90/90-12). Anyone else? Also, is there a good source out there for good tubes? I would like to avoid flats in the future.

Thanks.

Found this also. Hard to find 16x3 tires. When needed I sure don't want the stock tire, too thin for the desert thorns in SW New Mexico.

www.BikeBandit.com has some cheng shins for $15 ea!

Are the walls of these tires thicker than the stock tires?

Where do you buy tubes for the XB-600? What size do I ask for?

Thanks.

Re: Tubes and tires for XB-600

My 600w bike (not XB) uses a 3.00-10 tire and tube. I found some nice 4 ply Kenda tires at Powersport Superstore. They are much heavier than my OEM or my Cheng Shin 2 ply tires. Which of course makes them harder to get on the rim as well :(

Use the tire protectent from Ride-on.com. It prevents leaks from a puncture instead of trying to patch them.

Re: Tubes and tires for XB-600

90/90-12 tires fit, and any replacement tire you buy are going to be thicker than the paper-thin ones that come stock. Just wet the bead of the replacement tire when you put it on or you'll have a difficult time of it.

3.00-12 is the tube size, but you will want a tube with a 90-degree stem for the rear. I'd recommend a 90-degree stem for the front too since they're easier to install on small rims.

If you want to replace them yourself I would also recommend getting a set of three tire irons. You can find videos on youtube that show how to use them.
