Hi Dogman and others,
It's been a while since I've been on the site but needing advise once again...
I've had the Crystalyte 24-72V 20Amp controller on my bike for a little over a year... Last rode the bike a few weeks ago... Charged the battery (my ping and my stock one)... When I turn on the controller, the on/off red light comes on very weak and then fades off (within 2-3 seconds)... I checked the connections and they were OK.. Got the same problem with both batteries.. I guess something inside the controller has gone bad... What do you guys think?
As always, thanks for helping out... I think I'm back to Bernson EV to buy the Wilderness Energy heavy duty one he sells.
Cheers,
AJW
Well,
I might have screwed up on charging the Ping (I hope)... When I wrote this message, I had tried both batteries... I charged the SLAs a few weeks ago and when I plugged in the charger it registered a green lite... I charged the Ping a couple of days ago while mounted on the bike.. When I checked the charge on the Ping by hooking up the charger and plugging it in, it too showed green... After posting the above message, decided to hook up the chargers to both batteries again... Now they are both showing red and charging the batteries... I wonder if I left the controller turned on when the Ping was charging and I wonder if the SLAs lost their charge after sitting for a few weeks... I hope so... I may be lucky with just dead batteries!!! I'll be back to advise later...
Cheers,

Good News for me.... The controller is OK afterall... I must have left the controller on when I charged the Ping... Its easy to wheel the bike up to an electric outlet without having to remove the battery to charge it... Lesson learned - be sure to turn off the controller when done riding... As far as the stock SLA battery... must have lost its charge after sitting for a few weeks... Sorry for any waste of your time but happy with the outcome...
Cheers,
