R30 controller replacement

Hi everyone, just purchased a R30 off craigslist-$600-167KM. I put another 100+km on it with no problems. Ran great, fun to ride! Rode it to the local watering hole, would not run when it was time to leave! Problem was loose wire at the circuit breaker, easy to fix. Rode about 4 miles the next day and it quit while was riding it. working fine, let off throttle, no response when I throttled up again! I have checked everthing my limited knowledge has allowed. Voltage 65+, throttle test good, relay seems to be working. All lights, kill switch working. When I power up I get a steady green light on my Kelly KEB72600 controller, when I twist the throttle, I get a red light code-3/1 frequent reset. I have talked to Kelly and they said I had an old controller and offered 50% off new controller with return of old one. Can anyone advise me on how to test the 3000w hub motor? Does this sound like a controller problem

Re: R30 controller replacement

Just push motor with hand, if there is something wrong with motor , it will be hard to push, for Hall of motor is easy to be damaged .
From you mentioned , I think maybe some wires loose.

Motor turns easy! Can I hook 65+volts directly to motor without damage?

Re: R30 controller replacement

My R30 has a Smartspark Battery equalizer. LED's indicate normal operation. It has 5 Lead-Acid batteries -RLE 12350(12V35Ah/20HR. I have not tested batteriesi indvidually, but the overall voltage is 65+(my digital meter broke, using old meter, not as accurate, but looks like over 65v)

Re: R30 controller replacement

I ordered a new controller(KEB72600) yesterday from Kelly controllers. They gave me 50% off new unit with return of old one. When I removed the old controller it obviously had something loose inside, rattled when I shook it. looking forward to new controller and getting my R30 back on the road! I may have killed my battery equalizer in the process. The Smartspark doesnt seem to be in business anymore(recall?). Anyone have any battery equalizer suggestions?
