Interesting read Klausbh!
I would hope that as more of these become available that the price comes down a little, but it's great to see the new ownership of Schwinn following this path.

Thanks for the link and the news!

I was really looking forward to this one until I found a copy of the manual online. The electric assist cuts out at 15 mph making the bike pretty much worthless for my purposes. Oh well - the search continues...

Ditto. I'm no speed demon, but trying to push a heavy ebike faster than 15mph with the motor not helping is a heck of a workout. I think I would get very impatient, very exhausted, or both.

$1800! Ouch...I knew it would be expensive, but I was thinking more like $1000. But, 60 mile range is very impressive. And the battery pack is so small as to be virtually invisible if you don't know to look for it, just looks like a standard rack from a distance.

That 15 mph is a killer. I have a Tidalforce and it cuts out at 20 mph. That is a big pain in the neck. I guess it save range, but come on. I was thinking about ditching the Tidalforce for one of these but not now. Limiting to 15 mph would drive me crazy!

Greetings Stiffi,

Welcome to our V-is-for-Voltage Community!
We'd love to hear how do you like the Tidalforce other than that 20mph limit, it would add to our
ever growing resources on E-bikes.

Don't forget to stop into our V is for Voltage Community Library, if you haven't already.

Welcome Aboard!

Re: looks like the new Schwinn bikes are available

Thanks for the welcome, I'm not exactly new. I was on the old V forums before the crash. I owned an Ego 2 then. I lost touch with the site until recently. I just figured out yesterday it had move to .net.

Anyway, I like my Tidalforce most of the time. I ride 12 miles to work a few times a month when it's warm. It's great to be able to do that distance, with some big hills, and not work up a sweat.

My dislikes are:

Weight. I bought the M750 folder, thinking I could fold it up and pack it in my car, or carry it to work. Uh-uh. With the hubs it weighs close to 100 pounds, making it hard to carry around. Also, folding it is dangerous for all the cables and wiring that Tidalforce put in. Finally, folded it still has too big a footprint to fit in most cars.

Connectors: Seem very cheap. I broke a pin in mine the first week I had the bike. Luckily, the other pins in the connector form a tight connection, so the bike will still charge. It looks like the housing will soon pull off the cable itself, however, and that will be trouble.

I do love riding it, however. It blows away the Ego in terms of ease and variations of usage.

I don't believe the 60 mile range. I have also seen it advertised with a 40 mile range. Any ebike can get a 60 mile range if you pedal hard enough and use the throttle little enough. 15 mph? Lordy.
