I'm suprised to not be able to find more information about the BugE on the forums, I searched but only came up with a mention in another thread. For anyone who hasn't seen it http://blueskydsn.com/BugE_Concept.html. Its a 3 wheel semi-enclosed "thing" that registers and insures as a motorcycle. And, the kit is only $3000 plus another $1500 or so for motor, batteries and such.
I thought it would be hard to insure, being home-built, but the designer told me they insure through progressive for only $300 a year! (and he answered this question at 2am too, thats service!)
So, to make a long story short, anyone ever driven one of these things? I can't find any info online despite it being incredibly cool and very affordable. I wish my commute didn't involve the highway otherwise I'd be all over one of these, and I'm actually considering one just for fun (plus I have a motor and batteries that should work sitting in my garage)
I agree, it's a cool looking vehicle. If I didn't have the vehicles I have in my driveway/garage I would be extremely highly tempted to get a BugE.. as it is I'm keeping the temptation in check.

I looked into this vehicle a little while back and liked the look of it until I realized that the canopy did not come down fully. It looks like it's open when it's closed. Kinda disconcerting. I know it's for ventilation, but it still seems like the canopy in that position would give you blind spots on either side.
I actually like the look of their previous product, the Gizmo, but not the $12000 price. If it were more like that but updated with the sleek look, then I think more people would consider it.

There are several videos of it on their site plus some on Google video. It does look like a neat vehicle. I think the builder mentions that with the new motor that they were able to hit a top speed of about 57mph or something like that. Hope this helps. God Bless :)
Now 55+ mph is more like it! I don't know about the stability at those speeds, or the breaking, but I couldn't figure out why an aerodynamic shape and low weight couldn't hit a higher speed, even at loss of range.
Perhaps a small propane generator trailer would be just what this needs, hitch it up when you need more distance, run batteries alone for short trips. They inventor mentioned something about this when I asked if it had any provisions for mounting a trailer.
