E-Max

First off, Happy New Year to all, this is a great board and have learned a lot from all the posts. Not enough to fix current problem, though. Had a rider bring an Emax Sport to me with complaint of range dropping from about 20 down to 5. This occured after he fixed a flat on rear. I pulled seat and measured the two 4 bat strings and they all metered above 13, and then disconnected 3 in each string and they measured between 13.07 to 13.2. Bike is about 3-4 yrs old, has about 700 miles on the odo, and has China sili bats 12v/20 ah.

Well I got controller mod done and went out for a test run GPS and all.
I didnt even get it up to full speed and broke down.
Had sparks coming out of the motor.
Got off it and found out that these IDIOTS had the motor wires wrapped
so tight around the axle that the wires stretched and were sparking everywhere.
Even the protective wire coating a foot up near the controller is ripped.

Im new here but Ive read alot of posts. Great info but had to stop reading for a little while
getting "burned out" lol. I just bought a new e-moto retro scooter. It would not have been my first choice because of size but paid less than 40% of list! (couldnt pass it up) plus it gets me to the next level in electric scooters. My other scooter (Schwinn) is what I call a "skeleton model" no headlight, tail, horn etc.

I read about EMax 110S and would like to have one. DOes anyone know where I can get it? I dont care if it is used and am ready to get a check out.

Does anyone know if once the stock controller of the EMax has been upgraded with higher rating capacitors, will it run using 72volts ??? If so, what would you think the top speed would be ?? Thanks for everyones opinions, etc. God Bless.

Well, It's been awhile since I've ranted on this site. Since then, I've got my pair of battEQ's and installed them on the pair of already highly imbalanced lead-gel battery strings. They "seem" to keep the speed more constant than without them, I have noticed, as far as extending the life of the battery, I can't comment because the batteries that come with this bike are absolute garbage.

I was wondering if anyone cn assist me regarding brake issue. I own an e-max sport 2000 which I purchased back July 2006. I am currently experincing rear brake problem with my scooter. The cable is still connected to the lever on the hub motor but when press is apply there is no brakes. Not sure if I need an internal component replace or if its a simple fix or not. There any one who can offer some offer help.

I'm looking for a battery charger for my E-Max Sport scooter. The 2 chargers that came with it malfunctioned. The charger is 48 volt with a 3-prong plug.

Some on here are interested in repairing their e-max controllers, but have encountered part numbers scraped off the IC's.

If we could only go back to the days when most electronic gadgets came with schematics. This "intellectual property" stuff is going too far - but I digress.
