Electric bikes, bicycles and pedelecs

I have the 36 volt ebike designed by Lee Iacocca. I need a new battery but I am getting mixed information on what direction to go and how much to spend. There's a guy telling me he has the original battery and case that goes with the bike and that for this bike that is the best option a lead acid battery 36v 10ah. Another bike shop is telling my he can covert me to lithium and that he can customize the battery to fit in the original compartment on the bike at 36v 15ah but that will cost me $750 with installation.

I have an electric bicycle that is powered with a front wheel motor. I have been using the bike regularly for 3 years with no major issues.
Recently, the front forks of the bicycle (it's a giant mountain bike) sheared off (where the wheel connects to the forks). I had wondered if this might happen. A bicycle is designed to be powered via pedals not via the front wheel.
The forks were replaced but the same thing happened a week later.
Has anyone had any similar experiences or can recommend a 'strengthened' set of forks that may prevent this from happening again.

Hello, I am considering buying my friend's Trek Valencia=+ ...there is only one problem. He let the bike sit idle for around 7-8 months. Now the battery only gives me about 8 miles of life, even conserving it as much as possible. I need to A) find out EXACTLY where and how much a replacement battery costs, B) UPGRADE the battery as described above. Can you tell me where I am to purchase such a battery online, or do I have to go through a BionX dealer?

There's a report on BikeBiz that an electric bicycle championship is being held Bristol's Big Green Week in June. Supposedly they're hoping to "set the stage for the first world electric bicycle championship" but I wonder what that actually means. The comments at the bottom discuss a different electric bicycle championship in Wales that has been held since 2006.

I purchased an E+ Electric bike last September. I rode it 5 times before it was time to put it away for the winter. The bike was stored in the basement. Checked the battery early February and was somewhat charged. Brought the bike up 3 weeks ago and charged it. Unfortunately, the E+ QUE! master controller is blank. Electric Motion Systems is no longer so I can't go there for help. The E+ distributor we purchased the bike from died suddenly at Christmas. No help there. I have tried researching and e-mailing to see if someone can help with the recovery of the controller.

I have a stock Merida 550 LTD that I just converted to LiFePO4, thought I would share what has turned out to be a very good deal on a quality Battery Pack and BMS (BMS is mounted in aluminum so no risk of flex to the board).
The Battery Pack and BMS all fit very nicely inside the Merida Battery Box, the closed cell material that the Pack was shipped in worked very well as spacer material inside the Merida Battery Box.

In the course of a project headed by the University of Business and Economics Vienna, we are looking for potential application fields of a magnetic encoder.

Basically the technology allows measuring the position of a magnet.

Can you imagine a field, where for instance one or several of the following problems occur;

I live in NY State on Long Island. In Dec 2011, I bought a new EBike [EWheels EW-475 with 36 V LiFePO4 10 AH bat.] and was assured they were legal in NYS.

Now I learn EBikes are legal in every other state, BUT not in NY.

Anyone have any info when, or IF, EBikes will be allowed in NYS? I know about the 20 MPH rule, that it must be a bike with working pedals, and no freeways or sidewalks. I will use my climbing helmet, to avoid being singled out for that - though I think bike helmet rules are for <18 y/o.
