I've been told that the MUCH delayed stand is now in full prduction and will filter through to all Vectrix markets in the next few weeks. If you've got one on order, chase it up - in my case I specified one on my original order and it wasn;t there, so fingers crossed for an early Xmas present!

It might be time to start making your own! Could anyone who has a center stand take and post some detailed pictures and measurements, please?

Good idea, as I've still not recieved the one I paid for - AND there is now no ETA of a 'fully approved' stand. Makes you wonder how they managed to get the rest through and this is just a bit of bent metal!

I still waiting one too. I ordered Vectrix with center stand 2 weeks ago and now I have the bike but i've to wait more for the stand. They're not able to tell me when it will be available !!!!
Hope to be the first in Italy soon.

I ordered it too, when i bought the bike, i got the bike on the 2nd of Feb but the stand has never arrived, they keep telling me its not available yet, when it clearly says in their website that it would be available in Feb 2009. Im planing to change it for a sports windscreen.
By the way i have actually seen a white Vectrix at the dealer, with the centre stand installed in it.
The Vectrix bike in a Spanish review here has a center stand. Check 1:27 and 2:42.
Thanks, AndY1. Nice video. Its actually filmed very close to where i live and the recharging point he uses, is the second one in the whole of the Barcelona Area. Its in a small place called Sitges and you have to take a very nice and touristic road called the Carretera de Garraf, to reach there. This recharging point is in a 4 star Hotel, as you can see in the video, and although the electricity might be cheap, the orange Juice and the olives that he takes in the bar will have probably costed him 20€.Hahahahahah not a cheap recharge then!! But a very nice and fun trip Barcelona-Sitges-Barcelona.
Well, I too have joined the 'waiting for center stand' crowd.
The word I received from my dealer yesterday is "the center stands
are now available for 2009."
The center stand part number indicated to me is A00566
with a price tag of 199.00us, with a 2 week plus delivery.
....... I'll let you know how is goes......
:-))
Can anyone with a center stand confirm that it attaches to the underside of the swing-arm?
Detailed photos, measurements and/or descriptions would also be much appreciated!

The stand attaches using the four bolts on the underside of the swinging arm. The original ones are not really strong enough - the mounting plates are not thick enough, everyone I have seen have been bent.
Thanks for that! Did only part of the stand bend or does it also cause damage to the swing-arm or mounting screws when that happens?
Is it a common approach for maxi-scooters to put a stand onto the swing-arm? I need to keep an eye out for that!
If it is a common approach, then it might not be too hard to find a stand from another scooter and make amounting adapter for it.

It is only the "L" bracket that bends at the flat part that attaches to the swinging arm. This part is made from approx. 3mm steel. you should be able to adapt any stand that is strong enough. I do not know if other scooters use the swinging arm - it is very rare on "proper" motorbikes most of which have lugs welded to the frame. You should find it fairly simple to make adapter plates to drill and mount through.
Latest email from Vectrix Dealer about the Center Stand I have on order.
...QUOTE
Just got word from Vectrix ( Parts Manager no longer there)
on the status of our center stand order. It show available for sale
today, but reality is that they will not have them until late June
for sale. I will try to keep up with this and get it as soon as I can.
If you don't hear from me, please send me a subtle reminder first of June. UNQUOTE...
hmmm.... should I be suprised?
June - did it suggest of which year? I really find it hard to believe that they managed to develop and get the Vectrix out into the marketplace, but cannot resolve the (rather important) issue of a centre stand. It's like GM having card out there that have handbrakes than don't do anything.... oh wait - that rings a bell! :)

...OH NO!...I forgot to ask.... :-/
I don't have a stand and so can't supply the measurements etc. but I took a photo of my swinging arm, and you can clearly see the 4 bolts that the stand attaches to:
The square/oval shaped hole in the arm coincides with a similar hole in the stand:
If there are new owners who have parts to sell, surely it is time to revisit the issue of not being able to buy a center centre stand for the bike. Please post if you have ANY info on where to get such a device.

I too would like to purchase a centre stand... and a bike cover.. and a Winter wind-shield... and touch in paint... and maybe a top box with fixing bracket.
In Iberia there was some legalization problems with this item. Despite we insisted in purchasing the center stand, the dealer refused to sell it. We can't buy it!. We are still waiting for a successful legalization.
I have a winter windshield on order since 2 weeks, and was assured by the dealer that there was stock of most of the accesories.
I will post when i recv IT.
In November 2008
Now, November 2010, it might come true...see: http://visforvoltage.org/forum/10022-how-turn-fans-68-mph-upgrade#new
My questions are these:
Would anyone be willing to sell overseas, to Australia?
Does anyone sell the center stand boxed, or only including installation?
Would anyone mail a center stand to within Europe?

Maybe you can try to reach the Parisian importer : contact [at] vectrix-paris.fr. He does understand English (he's using this language to communicate with Vectrix PL). The price (around 280 euros) is mounting fee included. I saw the center stand unmounted, and I think it's VERY expensive for something so simple ! I'm afraid it would be very expensive to ship it overseas, because it's heavy !
April 2010 Vectrix VX-1, 2004 Prius (feeded with E85), Giant Suede (electric bicycle)
Not sure. Try here:

Price 240 euros. VAT 18% included.
280 eur installed.
Some pictures of my bike with the center stand.
I finally have a center stand!
It installed quite easily, by using a piece of timber to keep the stand in a half-way position while the scooter was parked on the side stand.
Now I have a question: How do you get the scooter onto the center stand? I don't mean installation of the stand, I mean the everyday parking of the scooter.
I find it very scary to use the center stand. It always feels to me like I might fall over, onto the scooter, towards the right side of the scooter.
And it takes a lot of strength and weight to get it to lift onto the stand. I wonder if small riders have a chance at all to park a Vectrix on a center stand. But maybe my technique is wrong?

Technique is everything.
Push down on the centre stand lever with your foot lightly so that both legs touch the ground evenly. That is very important first. Then whilst pulling up and back on the pillion grab rail push down like hell on the centre stand lever. the leverage does all the work really. I've done it on 300kg bikes and once you have the hang of it, it's easy.
Thanks!
The pillion grab is a bit of an issue - I've taken it off years ago. That allows to fully open the under seat storage.
Once the Vectrix is on the center stand I can feel how stable it is. As long as the manoeuvre is completed in one movement, there should be very little risk of tipping over. The trouble is if the manoeuvre is attempted half-hearted and the bike rolls forward again after an unsuccessful attempt. At that point, falling over onto the bike is a real risk.
I guess it's also very important to only attempt this on firm, level ground. A small pothole under the right side of the center stand might cause a disaster.

is it possible to use the bikes reverse to get it onto the centre stand?
Daily Ride:
2007 Vectrix, modified with 42 x Thundersky 60Ah in July 2010. Done 194'000km
Nice lateral thinking, but no. Weight lifts off rear wheel as soon as you push down on the centre stand lever.
One day I parked my V wwith the center stand on an "uphill" street. very easy to park with the aid of the Vectrix weight on the easy hill side... But this same huge weight made it almost impossible to roll it forward to have the center stand up again. It took me 5 minutes of hard struggling. No kidding, beware of the uphills when parking!;-)
Having suffered an embarrassing 0 mph tip-over in the garage a few years back with my motorcycle, I learned one helpful tip for center stands is to drive or push the rear tire up onto a 2x4 or similar block of wood before trying to leverage the bike up. It's also very important to have the right kind of footwear; sandals are a definite no-no (no surprise there), but even a wet boot can cause a slipped foot and a dropped scoot.
Technique helps, but so does a willing girlfriend who doesn't mind standing on the other side..
Sounds like most of you guys are first time bike owners. You'll get the hang of it in no time, and one day you'll look at your posts and wonder what you were going on about :)
it'll be second nature in no time.
