Clarifying Recharging phases

I wanted to ask about all the Phases that the charging of the Vectrix goes through. I have seen it before in some threads but i cant find them anymore,i have also gone through Miks Handbooks but they dont seem to be there either. Can someone please help me. I want to know what EO and CO phases stand for? EO=Equalizing? Also now that i am at it any others that i havent mentioned are also apreciated.
Thankyou

I have to say, personally I've given up trying to work it all out. I just set a 5 hour delay and plug the sucker in. I think I'm at the "Just deal with it Vectrix, that's what I paid you to do!" stage. :-)

It's not Miks handbook, it for everyone to contribute! So once you have found it, drop it in there, please!

Here is a hint: Use the search function of VisforVoltage at the top of the screen!

The search term "Vectrix charging" works, the information is in the first three links.

The search term "Vectrix charging real world" works even better, the top two results are both exactly what you need as a starting point to copy and paste it into the handbook section!

Re: Clarifying Recharging phases

Mik, im not sure if i am not searching properly but there is no mention of "EO" or "CO", there are mentions to "CP","tr","CC" and "EC" but i already knew about those!
Anyway this is what i assume :
"CO" = Cooling (i have reached to this conclusion beacuse when i put the timer on delay(closing the Vec pressing right brake) to recharge, the fans turn on but the bike doesnt recharge until half an hour later. The display shows "CO" during this time.
"EO" = Equalizing (In this one i deduct this because i only see this in the display once every week or 10 days and it always appears in the morning when i have to leave and the bike is still charging after 5 hours)
I was asking cause i wanted to comfirm these.

My Vectux is still running old firmware, I cannot help you with these new codes.

But I would try to let the equalization charge finish. If you regularly interrupt it then you might not get the intended benefit from it.

Hi Rady
I'd like confirm that "CO" = Cooling and "EO" = Equalizing . I keep this conclusion because the "EO" happen every 400 km ( more or less ) that means 8 h for my gait, and "CO" for the same reason you explained.

Re: Clarifying Recharging phases

I still think that we have to put a little faith in the people who should know more than we do about charging the Vectrix.

The only user electable thing I do about charging is leave a good long delay. I now have set mine to 7 hours. I ride mostly gently now so as not to heat up or stress the batteries too much.

I have seen my range steadily increase. I was getting only about 25 miles after the S/W upgrade which was worrying, but I recently did 25 miles two up with luggage and still had 7 bars left. This is with some hill climbs too. So what ever the charger is doing, it seems to be doing it right.

I never interrupt the charging process either. However, as I mentioned the other day, the S/W interrupts the charging to allow the batteries to cool on occasion. It started to charge, after an hour or so the charging stopped but the fans remained on, then after a while, the charging carried on as normal.

"CO" = Cooling (i have reached to this conclusion beacuse when i put the timer on delay(closing the Vec pressing right brake) to recharge, the fans turn on but the bike doesnt recharge until half an hour later. The display shows "CO" during this time.

It doesn't sound like you are setting a delay. When I set a delay and the batteries are too warm, the display is off/blank while the fans are running, I have no "CO" no lights, nothing.

Your experience suggests that either the delay is not set and the bike is just cooling the batteries prior to charging, or maybe you have a S/W upgrade that didn't "take" properly?

With the new software, does the Low Battery Reset Point (charger and battery sync), happen at the moment the red battery telltale lights up or do you have to drive further, as with the old software, where you had to wait until all bars disappear and EST RANGE goes to 0?

When the new S/W was installed all that happened was that I rode it until the red light came on, I had 4 bars left but 0 on the rangeometer, so this worried me somewhat.

I eased back on the power and the red light went out. I was still 5 miles from home so nursed it back, the bars dropped rapidly, the power was automatically restricted and the red light came on and off periodically during this time. I got the 5 miles home out of it with the bars at 0.

Now the fuel gauge is very good and doesn't go down to 4 bars then rapidly vanish, so it must have synched up around that time. I get a nice reliable 2 miles per bar (depending on terrain of course and driving economically) The rangeometer is pretty useless still and I much prefer to rely on the fuel gauge and tripmeter, I'd swap that redundant display for a permanent batt temp gauge any day. It would save having to keep hitting the kill switch and pulling the brake lever in, which I've got pretty quick at during traffic light stops!

Re: Clarifying Recharging phases

I have added this thread to the "Vectrix Collaborative Handbook".

Please try to stay on topic!

I agree, Simon, the fuel Gauge is very precise, i calculate a 2.5km per bar and "i am always on the safe side". Reffering to the temp, i´m also very quick at it, you dont even have to let go of the left brake while kill switching!
Ok reffering to the "CO", it only dispalys it when i turn the key "ON" while it is delay charging, im sorry i didnt mention that.
