Hello everyone,
a friend of mine has a Vectrix stuck at the local dealer in Italy, the problem is the charger, but the part is not available in Italy and apparently VUK is not helping as well. Anyone has any idea of how he could get the parts anywhere else?
Thanks in advance for any help you'll be able to give!

Have you tried Vectrix UK ? They are advertizing that they still have parts.

The V-UK is not helping??, Oh my God!
The only thing I can sugest is try to call the spanish dealer and ask if they have the replacement for sale.
Now I'm worried...
Just to clarify and put some minds at ease, we did say in another post we had some parts and would help where we can. We were contacted about the charger and replied - "unfortunately we do not have any chargers left in stock" - of the type they were looking for. We did forward the request to Poland.

Btw, I'd like to take a chance to thank the guys from Vuk for actively taking part in this forum.
I can see that most users are honest and open, sometimes even hard on each other (blame it on the Chapter-11-tension-in-the-air), and sometimes hard on you guys, but I also can see people trying to do their jobs, wich is, giving the circumstances, admirable.
keep it up guys, despite whatever comes down on you :-), it'll keep our V-spirit high!

My charger (the second) gave up on me last week. It's a "pigtail" type, which Doug and Steve tell me is in stock in the UK. I just have to try to get them up to Oxfordshire next week before my battery goes critical... I'll have to bribe them with coffee and biscuits!

No worries Pengo. I just didn't want anyone else to mis-interpret what you meant. We have not heard back from Poland but maybe Pawel Koch could help you out if you send him a private email as he is at the 'factory'. Sorry, I do not have the cost readily available at the moment.

To identify the charger, face the front of the bike and look up under the fairing above the mudguard on your left hand side. Just adjacent to the screened air intake and in behind it is where you can easily identify the charger.
Harting Charger - you will see a square grey metal connector (Harting type) that is retained by a silver metal clip. There are actually 2 of these connectors but only one is easy to see.
Pig-Tail Charger - you won't see the above connector as the connectors are cable tied up out of the way to the sub-frame.
The chargers are, to my knowledge, the same except for the connector type which is not interchangeable.
As for failures, there are no outstanding numbers of one against the other.

To my knowledge, the chargers are the same. The very first charger had a bad chipset and was replaced in all vectrixs. It is esasy to recognise them, they have a long metallic plate that drops down and interferes the hidraulic brake circuit. The second edition replaced in the 2007 bikes used the Pig-Tail connector, and the plate was cut. The cutting endge is covered with black pastic. This kind of connectors have problems with water coming from the rain and were replaced in the VX1 2008 edition with chargers using the square grey metal connector, which is almost water proof (Harting type.)
