XB-700li Tail and brake lights stopped working

My tail lights / brake lights have stopped functioning. I checked to make sure that the bulbs weren't blown. I also removed the under-the-seat storage compartment to access the controller and wires to make sure that the wires were all firmly connected.

My question now is:
How do I fix this? If there is a fuse for the rear lights, where do I find it to check it (and replace if necessary)?

I have the black / silver version, so having working tail lights is a big concern (black is much harder to see at night than blue). Also, having working brake lights is also a big safety concern.

In addition, the light for the license plate (which I don't need) also stopped working. That bulb is also not blown out.

Let's see; you have three independent electrical systems that all failed at once. The only common point between them would be the connectors.

Good hunting! (I'd trace the wiring back from the taillight bucket along the wire runs to the "dashboard" area.)

MF,

thanks for the quick reply. I just re-inspected the tail lights and found that both were indeed blown out after all. Both filaments in each bulb. Now comes the fun part, trying to find compatible bulbs for the socket. Otherwise, it's time to investigate replacing the sockets and adding the necessary components to make it easier to replace the bulbs if they blow out again (once I replace these ones). Perhaps LEDs. I've seen some posts on the forum of LED conversion for this bike.

Oh Oh! If they've ALL blown out, check the voltage they're being fed. Does your bike use a DC-DC converter to get 12V bus voltage? It may have failed, or a higher voltage may have shorted into the signal light circuit. Make sure you have good voltage before you put a new bulb into the circuit! (You're lucky the headlights were off at the time - they're really expensive.)

GO LED's go here and check out ALL of my mods. I have converted almost all of my lights to LEDs.

Here are some links:

http://www.v-leds.com/Shop/Control/fp/SFV/32481

My favorite and one of the only two places I buy my scooter lights from is:

http://www.superbrightleds.com/cgi-bin/store/index.cgi?action=DispPage&Page2Disp=%2Ftail-brake-turn.html

The only other place I buy from is : LEDSupply.com. I buy all my Rebel LEDS here. I'm converting my home to LED lighting and I only from these two places.

The two types of bulbs you need are:
1157 (BAY15D) - Dual Contact and Dual Intensity
1156 (BA15S) - Single Contact and Single Intensity

And you must rate These at your scooters max voltage and it ain't 48v, it's 58v so buy accordingly. When I plan my LED conversions I always plan on a max voltage of 58 volts, always.
Now watch the two back turn signal blinkers there differant. They are very small bulbs. I didn't research these, I just ripped them out and replaced with 16 5mm superbrightleds for each bulb. YES they are bright, VERY bright, I think they'll see that I'm going to turn! This is what I'm striving for... Noticeability!

Good luck Happy MODing,
