Hmm... why's this controller broken? (I'll be posting a separate thingy about this)

The start of the race... Lightning Motors just pulled way ahead leaving everyone behind. It nearly lapped the whole field.

Re: Final TTXGP Mosport (North America) results

this is amazing !! congrat's on the great results !!
I was supposed to be there racing AM600 but not on the
bike at the moment due to some busted ribs.

do you know how someone new to EV's can get invovled in this?
are there any availability for production models of any of these
bikes or any EV racing teams looking for available riders to compete
in these events ?

for me it has been a dream for a long time for the possibility of electric
motorcycle racing and seems to be materialising .. hope can i get involved ?

i have so many questions .. everything from tech questions on how these bikes
work and even questions as to whether i can enter one of these bikes at the
regional level of racing for example at the shannonville superseries (my home track) ?

cheers to all that raced at mosport !!!!!!!!!!! =)

Re: Final TTXGP Mosport (North America) results

Hey, I appreciate your enthusiasm!!! I recommend you contact the eGrandPrix team as they're doing some kind of matching bikes with riders. Go to http://egrandprix.com and look around for the correct email address. There's a Contact Us link at the top of the page and one of the choices is Rider Registrations.

Many of the TTXGP riders are simply pro racers who one way or another found a team who needed a rider. For example Square Wave Racing did their first race with one of the designers as the rider - he isn't very good as a motorcycle racer, and he admitted that himself. The last two races they've had a regular motorcycle racer on the bike. And there are many other examples such as when Shawn Higbee rode the Agni #22 bike at Infineon.

However we're nearing the end of the season so it may be you won't find a team to ride for until next year.

Yes,I think the first rider used AC motor and controller from Curtis.
The 3rd and the 4th are using Kelly DC motor controller.
The pins for throttle input on controller KDH12121E is knocked badlly during the shipping.
The controller is good functional. The electric race bikes used KDH12121B controller later.
What is the prons and cons of the system between AC and DC?

Thanks very much for the reply and information Reikiman (by the way, do you really practice the art of Reiki)?

I am going to follow-up with the egrandprix link you provided and see if there is any team looking to pick up a rider.
Yeah I guess it wouldn't be very realistic to get on an e-race bike for this year, but you never know and it's worth a
try (I still have my petrol bike to race for the season but just the thought of switching to an electric race bike is very
exciting indeed) !

Last year I watched the TTXGP footage from the Isle of Man and have been looking for more info about it (and also wondering to myself WHY ISN'T THIS SERIES TAKING PLACE EVERYWHERE ??) ..

Well, I'm looking forward to following the rest of your season anyway and wish you guys great success and hope you achive all your development and results goals ..

Cheers and hat's off to all the e-racing teams !!

Re: Final TTXGP Mosport (North America) results

Yes,I think the first rider used AC motor and controller from Curtis.

Both the 1st and 2nd place bikes (Lightning Motors and Team Electra) used AC motors. I'm about 99% certain that Lightning Motors is not using a Curtis controller, but Richard is being a bit tight lipped about the controller. The motor is recovered from an EV1 and is quite powerful. For the Team Electra bike they're using the AC motor & Curtis controller kit that's distributed by "High Powered Golf Carts". The fifth place bike (Square Wave Racing) is also using that motor/controller kit.

The 3rd and the 4th are using Kelly DC motor controller.

Those are the Werkstatt Racing bike (a Mavizen TX02) and Electric Race Bikes. Both have dual Agni motors.

The pins for throttle input on controller KDH12121E is knocked badlly during the shipping.
The controller is good functional. The electric race bikes used KDH12121B controller later.

What you're referring to is that on Saturday afternoon the Electric Race Bikes bike had a busted controller. I should make a separate posting about this. In any case they made contact with Kelly late Saturday afternoon and arranged a courier relay to deliver a replacement controller from Chicago to the race track (near Toronto) and ERB got it installed in time for the race on Sunday. However something was wrong and for most of the race their bike was crawling around the track. Don't know much about why, but after the race they said the controller went into a thermal protection mode.

What is the prons and cons of the system between AC and DC?

Supposedly it's that AC is higher efficiency especially at top end. I'd expect that someone who works for a company that makes controllers would have more awareness of the pros/cons of AC/DC than I do.
