2007 Vectrix VX-1 for sale

Hi all,

I still love my Vectrix, but my wife and I are making a "tree-change". We are in the process of moving to a rural block that is too far from the nearest town for my Vectrix to be useful :( So, I'm keeping the Honda 650, but selling the Vectrix. This is a shame, as I've just (in the last year or so) become comfortable with taking the Vectrix apart to keep it maintained (originally to replace 3 cells with brand new ones purchased from Vectrix Aus last year). I've been impressed by how it's put together and was looking forward to trying out some Lithium batteries, but other plans got in the way and we have been quite busy this year (see http://users.on.net/~mdmay74/permaculture_home.html :)

After replacing the cells in the battery, I did install a fairly cheap thermometer to give me continuous battery temperature reading, but it obviously wasn't waterproof enough, as the LCD display went strange after a particularly bad downpour. It's a simple solution that I found gave me that bit more confidence in warmer weather and I can reinstall a new thermometer (it was about $20 from JayCar, IIRC) if that helps the person who wants to buy the Vectrix.

It is a 2007 model (apparently it was the first one sold by The Solar Shop here in Adelaide, around Easter 2008). Silver colour, and includes an RJays grey waterproof cover. While we're still in the city, I still use it once or twice a week and although the range isn't quite as good as when I first got it, I still feel comfortable on 40km round-trips at 60-80kph. It has a good rear tyre (replaced last year) and a pretty new front tyre (replaced a couple of months ago). It's got 14,500 kms on the clock.

Cheers,
MAtt.

Hi Matt,

This may not be useful to you,
but to the new owner:

I am coming to Adelaide in November for the AEVA National AGM.

While there I will have my CAN bus cable and laptop with me.

I am happy to load the 110/115kmh software revision on everyones bike while I am there.

good luck with the sale.

Cheers,

I'll be in Adelaide the 4th, 5th, 6th and 7th of November.

You could perhaps pay Mik a visit to borrow his CAN bus adapter for a firmware update, hes somewhat closer to you than I am.

I'll take this aspect of the conversation off thread though, no need to clog Matt's for sale sign :)

D'Oh!

When I first discovered the AEVA (a little while after I bought my Vectrix) I saw that they were going to have a meeting in Canberra, which I thought would be cool. Unfortunately, I didn't think I'd be able to take enough time off work to make the trip on the Vectrix with numerous recharges there and back again...

Now I don't have much time and they have a meeting in Adelaide... Hmm, Victoria Square... Well, maybe I'll get to the Expo anyway - by OBahn if I've sold the Vectrix, or by Vectrix if I haven't :) It's an unfortunate choice of weekend for me, but I'll see how things go...

Ho hum, them's the brakes...

Thanks for pointing it out to me - maybe I'll get inspired to adapt our Rodeo to electric ;-)

Cheers,
MAtt.

Re: 2007 Vectrix VX-1 for sale

A quick update with a reduced price: Make me an offer :)

A few weeks ago, the fuse blew. I got a new (125A) fuse from V Australia and installed it. Because of being in the middle of moving, I had to do this while we were holding a garage sale, so the video footage needs unrelated stuff to be editted out. Unfortunately, I don't have much time to do this, and as I've just got myself back up-to-date with some bits of the Collaborative Handbook, I find that others have contributed the information anyway, so I'm not sure how useful it would be.

It's working fine again, but we're moving to the country in a week's time, and while I like to think that I could take it down on a trailer and cancel the insurance and rego so that it doesn't cost me money not to use it - so that I can get a CAN bus adaptor and spend some time helping with the software side of things (I used to be a software engineer and I use Open Source software wherever possible :) - realistically, I realise that I will not be able to make time for this.

So, if I can't sell it before we leave, then it will be stored at my mother-in-law's place in Adelaide, in the hopes that it would be easier to sell it from there than from the middle of nowhere :)

As I've appreciated a lot of the information and community in this forum, if someone wants to make me an offer, I will be happy that it is going to someone who appreciates it. Things to note that I forgot to put in the earlier post - there are a couple of cosmetic scratches (mostly from maneuvering it around the corner of a building to park it off the road) and a crack in the top of the plate at the back (see following photos). I think the clock is up to 14,700kms now

Wrong fuse. The 125A have been upgraded to 200A.

I called Vectrix Australia a couple of days ago for a new fuse, but they only had 125A.

I ended up ordering a bunch of the right 200A ones from ebay.

A 125A fuse will be ok, it will just blow randomly again.
