Re: HyBike electric Bicycles

Got a Alkaline model a couple months ago... very cool ride. I've been into electric bikes for quite a while now and have owned a Bionix, Prodeco (BTW the prices listed above are NOT accurate) and a self-made bike using Phoenix hub motors... and this one is the best so far.

I'm wondering if some of the posters above are blaming damage from shipping on the Hybikes guys?

I've had no problems until tonight and I stumbled across this forum while searching for a rear tube for the bike... I hit a piece of metal on the road... I ended up calling Hybikes about it and they have sent me a new one... easy.

I don't know what issues others have had but it seems that these guys are great at what they do. The electric bike industry is really new and a lot of companies aren't even around anymore. I had absolutely no problems with anything that wasn't my own fault.

(or range issues due to taking steep hills at top speeds ;) )

I can't recommend these bikes enough. Freakin' awesome for a commuter bike. Thinkin' about upgrading to a Kenetic model.

Re: HyBike electric Bicycles

Hello all, I Just Purcheased a NEW HyBike. Dave was the most helpful and very attentative to my needs. He took the time to ask me how far I would ride my bike and how often I would be using it. I explained to him that I had lost my driver license and that I would be without it for about a year. He told me that HyBikes had electric bikes they would finance and that it would not cost alot to get into one. Simply had to put down payment of $599.00 and then I rode my HyBike home and my monthly payment is only $99.00 a month. All of this with NO credit check adn NO interest!!! What a deal. I am not only writing a review for them but I am also going to tell EVERYONE about HyBikes. I would recommend Dave, Chase and Gavin to anyone and EVERYONE!!. THANKS!!

Re: HyBike electric Bicycles

Update: I tried to do some tinkering on my bike and screwed it up a little (a lot actually but let's pretend I'm smarter than I look) and pretty much hit a wall. So I put the bike in the truck and took it up to the Mesa store. There's a new guy there and he just looked at the bike and shook his head. I figured "great, this is going to cost me the farm"... then he smiled. He walked me through what I had done wrong and showed me what I needed to do to fix it. He said I could pay him to fix it but his instructions were good enough for me to know what to do myself. So I went home and promptly forgot about half way through what I was supposed to do. I called him (way after business hours) and he didn't pick up... not surprised. Then I got a call about ten minutes later and it was him. He walked me through the rest of the process over the phone. And now it's fixed!!! Ta da! I will officially take all the credit for fixing my own bike ;)

However, because he was so nice I'll probably be taking it there for any service in the future. I sure didn't get that kind of help from the companies that sold the other ebikes I've had in the past.

Keep up the good work guys!

Re: HyBike electric Bicycles

These bikes are total crap and the company is very cut-throat.

Maybe if they were a third the price or less they would be worth it (probablly not) but you're getting about the same quality as a Walmart electric bike at five times the cost. And their prices just keep going up.

Service is a joke. No one will touch these bikes. The steel is so weak it bends with just standard pedaling. The plastic cracks and splits. The display melts in the sun. The batteries won't hold a charge and don't operate at anywhere near the effeciency they claim because of shoddy wiring that even they can't fix.

And don't get me started on their "finanacing". It's predatory just to say the least.

If you are looking for an electric bike this company is NOT one to go with. Do not take a regular bike there for repairs either because they don't know how to work on bikes. They only know how to sell cheap pieces of crap to unsuspecting customers.

Take a look at their BBB rating. That says it all.

Re: HyBike electric Bicycles

On march 4th of 2014 My Hybike Alkaline was delivered to me. As I rode it I felt a great wobble with the front tire. I took a look and the nut on the left side was completely loose almost to the point of falling off. My charger made a terrible sound and took 17 hours to charge the bike. I called many times to HyBike but no answer. I sent an email from their HyBike site and it was not answered. One time I called the Sales number and got an answer only to be told I had to talk to Dave, I said Dave does not answer or return any of my calls and I was told only Dave can help me because he is the owner. A few days later I was peddling hard to get away from oncoming traffic and the crank arms bent into the frame and scratched the plastic and locked and I was almost hit by a truck because the Alkaline Hybike has no Torque and takes off so slow. Then the Front Turn signals died. Then the front shock springs flattened out making NO FRONT SUSPENSION and a horrible bumpy ride. I called Dave many times and left messages and never did he return my calls. So I went to my bank and reported I was given Garbage and I have tried over 12 times to call and never was answered or replied. So Visa refunded me my $500 down payment and closed my Visa card so they cant take any more money from me. Now its 2 days past the payment day and they can't take a payment from my closed account and they still haven't contacted me. The Charger died 16 days ago so the bike sits dead in my back yard.

DO NOT BUY FROM HYBIKES. THE 1 YEAR WARRANTY IS A LIE. MAYBE IF WE WENT INTO THE STORE IN PHOENIX WE COULD GET SOME RESULTS. PHOENIX PRODUCE COMPANY SELLS THE SAME EBIKES FOR 1/2 OF THE PRICE OF HYBIKES.

Re: HyBike electric Bicycles

phoenix produce aowa ebikes are apsolute junk. i have added a moped motor to mine to make the most out of a bad purchase.
hybikes are built on the same platform, same country of origin. i buy parts from daves, but there is only two places to get parts from. today i picked up new tube and tire. $2300 is what hybike is asking for the 60volt version. not worth that much in my opinion.
this is what ive posted on other sites

They are a ripoff! I payed $800 for a bike that started falling apart on the way home. I had to go around it and tighten bolts and screws. It came with defective batteries. THEY WOULD NOT REPLACE THEM. (another $245) The battery charger sold with them is supose to shut itself off, they dont, thus over charging and destroying the batteries. (they (phoenix produce) the shiney plastic panels are brittle and will crack with slightest pressure. The metal they are made out of is of inferior quality, the frame is bending in the middle step through.
LATEST UPDATE! brake light stoped working, flashing light on rear stoped working, right turn signal stoped working, rear sprocket is grinding during coasting, battery box is splitting apart AND 1 of 4 battery led went out.. All this in the 1st year...OH yes people BUYER BEWARE!! (wonder if theres a lemon law for these???)

Re: HyBike electric Bicycles

i bought from phoenix produce 522 South Central Ave. guess what. they are just a few blocks from hybikes. convienent? these bikes are the same only difference is cosmetic. the two are not totaly interchangable leaving you are traped into buying parts from them. nobody else has these odd pieces.

The metal they are made out of is of inferior quality, it started to collapse. i had to add a support bar from seat post to front forks. if a rear bearing goes out you can only buy a new motor at $300 plus to fix it. the 22 inch tires and tubes are almost impossible to find. i got one from hybikes and fought over 2 hours trying to make it almost round.

ill wager that any positive reports on these bikes are made by the sellers.this is the internet!

since i have to make the best of this i added a moped motor to it. anyone looking to get rid of theirs i could use them for spare parts bikes. phoenix area

Re: HyBike electric Bicycles

Is this thread still alive? I need to replace the front disc brake and the hand brake for the rear.
Are there third party companies that sell these parts?

I think you meant to post this:

"heres a place you might find similar part that can be made to work. www.treatland.tv"

It's much easier to follow a hyperlink if you add some Link text so there is something to click on.

Phoenix Produce/ ebikes (https://phxelectricbike.com ?) can fix the hybike. They are right in downtown Phoenix at 522 S Central.

Re: HyBike electric Bicycles

Thanks so much for your feedback. I've been riding my bike for about 2 weeks now. I've noticed it gets a round trip of 14/15 miles, which is not bad because I don't really do much pedaling. I've found that this range would be limited a bit by cold temperatures and bad weather. It does the job and gets me to work back and forth. I ordered the bike directly from their main distributor in Phoenix AZ because there are no local distributors. With a 1 year warranty—the best I've seen so far in the electric bicycle industry. The bike is awesome, other than some slight shipping damage.
