Using 18650 cells would required about 400 cells for 72V/60aH at US$3.50 each = US$1400 (A$1860 + postage from China (will have to add GST as > $1000) + Hassle+++. The Nissan Leaf Cells I am buying cost A$1820 (inc GST) + A$200 postage from Brisbane + BMS A$600. I can't see how 18650 are cheaper.

simply answered source and supply . the method you have stated to obtain 18650 cells is the textbook method with all the information pulled of spread sheets. Have you ever sourced alternative methods of obtaining 18650 cells? these cells are the backbone of the battery industry and are used in my applications . the strange thing is if you buy them new in singles from China, That is the riskiest method as they are of dubious quality .. do your research or as the old saying goes "YouTube it"

I had some time on my hands this morning and pulled these vids up, I followed this guy and got into his way of thinking. He is self taught and spent a lot of real time and hard money to do his "Testing"

I hope this helps and explains what I was trying to get over
