Heated grips DIY

Last fall I've fitted heated grips to my VX. If anyone interested I can put DIY here.

Re: Heated grips DIY

First off, can we have a picture or two, source, cost and some specs? But I think it would be worth doing a write-up anyway, myself. MW

Re: Heated grips DIY

I'm interested in fitting the Tecno Globe Gold heated grips, because they have the switch integrated to the grip, which I consider a plus:
Tecno Globe Gold Heated Grips

Could they be connected "directly" to an active power source ?
Or should they be connected to an auxiliary 12v battery ?
Could this auxiliary battery be charged with the traction battery, like in a Nissan Leaf ? (hence avoiding connecting an extra charger)

Re: Heated grips DIY

Finally I installed heated grips on my Vectrix Li+

Oxford heated gripes for scooters.

Cut up the old handles with a screwdriver to take off the handlebar.

I decided to put the switch on the handlebar cover in a discrete position.

Placing the LED power indicator . Green = low temperature. Red = high temperature.

Pass the wiring for the steering column

Nice J!
If nobody posts it, DIY! Wonderful work, congratulations.
You have powered them with low beam wire system, haven't you? How many wh do they consume? Were they expensive?

Re: Heated grips DIY

A slight bump :/

A quick glance on the specs and they pull roughly 4amps, can the low beam wiring handle that current?

Re: Heated grips DIY

It may be able to handle these extra 50W, however it's better to use an independent DC-DC,
