Prototype - have you further developed it?
Besides - have you tried to create a complete new dash? Is there a (color) LCD available that would fit in the orginal housing and replace the maybe all 3 "instruments"?
interesting... I have made an attempt; unfortunately, my level of familiarity (or lack thereof) with the Android operating system is my main hurdle. I did start into a Near Field Communications link with the idea to have the entire dash be on a phone display/app. But here again I do not have the financial resources needed to follow thru on this endeavor; although, I did successfully transfer VX-1 temperature CAN data thru a NFC link board (which I made) to an Android phone (running a NXP NFC app); a picture of which is on this site ( somewhere EDIT: ah here it is ---> https://visforvoltage.org/forum/14526-new-can-data-logger ).

hmmm....a display to which you refer is something like those made by: https://www.aemelectronics.com/
I do not endorse any particular display but this one is fully programmable ( as I suspect others in its' category may be also ) and seems a likely candidate to at least augment the VX-1 dash. As far as replacing the IPC in its entirety.... one would need more comprehensive knowledge of the IPC internal functions as they relate to being integrated in/onto the VX-1 CAN bus.
Further to this I believe a member of this site (Framuga?) has a phone app already available albeit for a BMS interface.... it seems to me this is a great start toward a new dash display!
