Re: buSULt error with red battery light

The power supply I bought is a Sorensen DCR 150 -3B DC 0-150V / 0-3A both constant current constant voltage with either floating ground or negative tied to ground. It is a heavy duty fully regulated supply with a volameter and ampmeter so I can set it do do 150V or any voltage up to 156V and any amperage up to 3.5A. These go for $2000 new, I paid $300 on Ebay plus $25 shipping. I use 30A Anderson connectors, and yes, the next time I have it open, I put a second diode on the negative line.

Mik:
one more question to the monitoring of the batteries. I had both packs dissassembled and all connectors removed. All I found was 6 temperature probes and one voltage probe one the negative "lug" terminal that would read the full voltage. Where would the BMS get any other readings? Unless the temperature probes also report voltages back I am not sure where the data is tapped.

Graph1.JPG
here's a side by side comparison of charging my 2008 and the 2007 I had the issues with. Note the different voltage profile. The 2008 shows a much slower rise in voltage. The 2007 is at 146V with just 1/3 of the capacity charged. In the end, however, both have charged just shy of 24Ah which is all I get with the 2008 software. I suppose that is teh 80% of 30Ah??? Sorry about the lack of detail I can only uplaod 500*500. The black line is the voltage, the blue/grey line the Ah. Both graphs are on the same scale. I should mention that the three voltage spikes at the transition from constant power to constant currents where cooldowns followed by another couple of minutes of CP charging.

Amazing! a pity the graph is so small! Post each graph separately, please. it would be 2x size..

vectrix battery charger

Mik do you know of someone who maybe able to repair my battery charger ?
I live in adelaide
The charger went out with a bang and a flash of light the other day and it triped the earth leakage and circuit breaker on the house I have more pics of the charger and can send them to you if you like ?

I don't know anyone who could repair a Vectrix charger.

I think it's toast! Apparently faults in the charger cause a cascading chain of events which irreparably destroys the charger.

Re: vectrix battery charger

You might want to quickly register a warranty claim, maybe New Vectrix will honour it.

If not, and the rest of the bike still functional with a dead charger, maybe a Zivan in the luggage space could a be a solution.

Re: vectrix battery charger

Does the bike still boot up and run? The big question is really if anything will work on a VX-1 when the charger is removed (or on fire ;-) ).

I completely agree. Mik once said that the vectrix is a complex EV build around a complex charger. Without that charger, maybe nothing will work.
If the bike runs, please test the regen function and keep us posted...

Re: buSULt error with red battery light

If you bike turns on and moves otherwise, the easiest solution is to run diode protected wires to the two battery terminals. Then charge with a constant current 150V DC power supply at C/10 or 3A for 15h to recharge a completely empty battery. Prorate the hours for an incomplete charge, i.e. do 7.5h for a half empty battery. You can always drop to C/100-C40 for extended periods of charging, overnight oer at C/100 even constant without heating the battery. The only downside is that you will no longer have the battery gaugewhich in all likelihood will show empty. You hav eto go by the voltage reading and/or the mileage you ride. Not ideal but may get you by.
