XB700 Li arrived today

Many thanks to the posters here. It was with your help that I went with the 700Li. And am I glad I did.
It arrived today in very good shape. There are a couple of very minor blemishes --- nothing that I am ashamed of ---very minor.
Putting it together was fairly simple because of the excellent instructions that Rossasraus had put together. Thanks Big guy!! They really helped.

Tubeless Tires and Rims

New to the whole Extreme Electric bike world. Can you please tell me if these bikes can be fitted with tubeless tires? Will the stock rims accept them or is another rim required. The safety and general better quality offered by tubeless tires is worth the additional cost to me.

I have read in the "Vespa World" that the new tubeless tires and rims are the difference between a leak and a blow-out. One equals an accident and the other is simply an inconvenience.

These tires look interesting and appear to be tubeless and fit the XB-700Li

XB-500 Controller Wiring

I'm posting a picture of the XB-500 Controller and the wiring as what I know or believe to be true. Please help me identify the wires and connectors if you know where they go. ? Next to ones I am not sure about. Feel free to copy this and/or edit. Hopefully once it's correct and verified it will help someone else later.

XB-600 headlamps upgrade

Ok, I tend to ride mostly at night, mostly.

The headlamps that came stock with the bike shine forward with a pathetic pale-yellow light cone, maybe 4 feet in front of me. With the 60V mod and moving at 30mph, that light cone DEFINITELY needs to be projected further ahead and has to be BRIGHTER!

I nearly ran over a couple of 2-by-4's (chunks of wood) laying on the street the other night! Only my cat-like reflexes saved my @$$ and my bike.

Joining the XB-500 Club

I've been reading this section of the forum for the last few days absorbing as much info as I can and while searching for more info and debating a purchase, I ran across an add for an xb-500 for sale on craigslist.

I purchased a used non-working XB-500 recently from people that were fed up with the lack of customer/tech support at extreme. They were not willing to pay the shipping to send it back for repair. So, I took it off their hands at a discounted price. I believe all it needs is a new controller.

XB-600 Questions

I just purchased an XB-600. I really like it. I have two questions.

1. I did the "shunt" mod and noticed only moderate improvement (and I wonder if that is only in my head). However, my "factory" performance seemed better than other's listed in various posts. When I did the mod, I noticed that there was a large blob of solder already between the two shunts (on one end of each) on top of the controller board. I did not see that in any of the pictures on this site. Is it possible they are shipping XB-600's with a partial "shunt" mod done with this blob of solder?

XB-500 30-amp in-line fuse holder replacement

My 30-amp in-line fuse holder got pretty scorched when my controller blew out way back when. Now that I actually have an operating machine, and in anticipation of installing a new shunt-modified controller, I replaced the in-line fuse holder with a better quality one (purchased at Kragen).

Cut the wires to the fuse holder as well as the one to the controller

XB-500 mirrors

Did you know that there's a 13-mm nut on the threads inside that rubber cover thingy?
MirrorNut1.jpg

Just screw the mirror into place, use a screw driver to lift up the rubber thingy, and use a 13-mm wrench to tighten the nut so the mirror doesn't move!

Voila!

XB-700Li - Fork to Hub Interface Question

Is there supposed to be a rubber piece on the key on the left fork ,which mates with the slot in the front hub?

There's a suspicious amount of play there which doesn't seem right.
OK, I just moved the washer to the right side of the axle and tightened the axle nut alot tighter and the clunking has dsappeared; still sems a bit of a loose fit though.

XB700Li versus Veloteq Cavalier

Well this process of picking an e-bike is now down to two choices. The XB700Li versus the Veloteq Cavalier.
Both are very appealing and both have pro's and cons against one another.

So I'm looking for real world experience to help differentiate the two. Both of these are site unseen to me. I can not locate an owner relatively close for a test ride or to "look under the hood".
Marketing material is stronger for the Veloteq. But pricing is fairly disparate between the two models.
