"Hybrid" bicycles from Giant

One of the things we picked up at Interbike 2009 is a brochure from Giant about their "Hybrid" bicycles. I'm going to paraphrase what they say about why their hybrid bicycle is not an electric bicycle and why it's offending me. I wonder what others think?

Ford Think Traveler

I have a 2001 Ford Think Traveler folding ebike that is not working. I have replaced the batteries with new ones, the self-diagnostics all check out fine (throttle operation, brake interrupt operation, torque sensor operation, speed sensor operation). The problem is that when I turn the key on and then the handlebar mounted switch, the five LED's on the energy indicator panel just blink and the motor doesn't work when I start pedaling. Anyone out there have any experience with this??

ezee torq battery pack rebuild

I have an ezee Torq e-bike with a 36V Li-ion battery pack.

I want to keep my original unmodified pack and build a second battery pack
using repackaged A-123 cells from 36V Dewalt tool battery packs.

Has anyone tried this?
Does anyone know of a source for an empty ezee Torq battery-pack?

Thanks,
Scott

Looking for Electric Bike Conversion Kit Manufacturers or Suppliers

I am on online retailer of electric bicycles and I am currently looking for good electric bike conversion kit suppliers or dropshippers that are well known and respectable? if you know any good ones please PM or reply to this topic, your help will be very appreciated.

Question for the more experienced...

I have had two throttles go bad on a 36v bike build. I have a question so here goes. I know that a 12v 30amp auto fuse is only 15amps on a 24v bike. so what are the amp on a 110v 20amp house switch on a 36v circuit. Is it about 60amps. I did melt a 15 amp house switch on a 36v bike pulling about 40amps of current. I am sick of controllers and throttles. My motors are just helper motors. They mostly run at wot anyway.

Please help me out here.

R10, R11 by R Martin

Hi all,

I am new to this site.

I am interested in purchasing an electric bike--commuting back & forth to work (20 mi round trip, leisurely riding). I have looked at a ton og bikes on the web. I came across the R10, R11 electric mt bike. sold by R Martin out of Austin, Tx. The bikes look great and seem to be of a good quality. Has anyone had any experience with R Martin bikes, their customer service, etc. good or bad. Would appreciate any information you may be able to provide. Thanks.

Yike Bike, a new and very different electric bicycle design

This is supposed to go on sale next year.

It's a very light very small foldable electric bicycle that appears to easily fold into a size slightly larger than the front wheel. Apparently it uses carbon fiber all through.

They call the design a 'mini-farthing'. That's because the design is remniscient of the penny-farthing bicycles of olden days, but it's a lot smaller.

Running 36v motor on 24v.

I have a complete Currie kit with 24v 450w motor.

I want to modify the kit to turn a crank on the left side of the bike.
I am worried that it will turn the cranks too quickly.

The 36v version of the motor has the same output shaft speed as the 24v motor.

The idea is to run a 36v motor on 24v to slow down the output shaft speed.

Can it be done?

In case you were wondering, I'm working on a freewheel adapter for the Currie D-shaped
motor shaft.
If you have any ideas about this I'd like to hear them.

Chains .vs. Hubs .vs. Friction .vs. Rockets

So what are the kinds of drive systems on an electric bicycle?

http://visforvoltage.org/forum/7372-why-struggle-complicated-e-bike-kits .. talks about a GoPed designed friction drive system (http://www.goped.com/Products/GoBike/default.asp)

Newbie question on meters.

Hello,

Not only am I a newbie but I am also a complete neophyte with all things electric. However, I really want to build an electric bike and have commenced the process. Unfortunately, I found this forum after I started.

I’ve purchased a Chinese 48v 1000w rear hub motor and a 48V 20AH LiFePO4 Battery (with EMS and charger) on ebay. Here are links:
