eLation Bits and Pieces

Hello All

Well V2 is just about to be launched on web, finally. Delays occurred in ensuring manufactured components were correct.

ANYWAY, have some V1 bits and pieces left whci can be found on eBay (kathleens9122). A number of people in the past have wanted just the crank system; here is you chance. Those not on eBay can contact me direct.

I will post on forum when V2 launched.

Cheers

Hills: What bike for 1600 Vertical feet in 8.5 miles

My commute is about 8.5 miles from Boulder, Colorado. The first 6.5 miles is somewhat gradual and rises 1100 vertical feet. The last 1.5 miles rises another 600 feet on a bumpy dirt road.

I am thinking of buying a used Lashout Electrec. I could probably upgrade the motor and batteries. I am not that interested in speed just some help uphill. Reliable 10 mph on average would be fine.

I am hesitant about the hub motors due to traction, torque, durability and weight issues. I think rear weel drive would be best.

Voltage regulator

Hi everybody. I haven't posted since the old wbsite, but anyway I've put together and bottom bracket powered bicycle using a 36 volt unite gearmotor I salvaged off my mongoose (currie) bike. It's connected to a Shmano Nexus 3 speed hub powered by DeWalt (2) 36 volt batteries in parallel. For developing reasons I'm using a solenoid for a controller to test if everything would work and it does. Today I hooked the batt. in series and WOW but the solenoid weleded shut.So what I'm thinking, is there a voltage regulator that will alow me to run the batt.

Almost ready for round 2, input on hub motors?

So, almost got this all worked out. The second bike will feature this Fuji 2 Diamond, likely a Crystalyte 4-series rear hub motor, and a 48v/8ah Lithium power source.

New French Bike - Matra MS1

I'm sure some of you have already seen this, but I have to pass along the link anyway.

http://www.engadget.com/2007/09/29/matra-shows-off-its-human-electric-powered-ms1-bike/

There aren't many details yet but if the stats are correct, this is pretty impressive. And the price isn't too offensive.

No word yet on if/when it might make it to the US.

What about those Russians?

A Russian guy has powered his kid’s bike with the help of two electric hand drills. He says that “the bike with this new engine runs like crazy, though batteries last not to long”.

What about a trailer?

Sometimes we can't fit all the batteries, electronics, high-powered motors onto the newer styled bikes.

Why not build an electric powered trailer to act as a pusher?

Hub Motor Kit Opinion

Hi I was wondering what everyone think of this kit
http://www.poweridestore.com/Hub-Motor-Kits/Rear-Dual-Speed-Kits/Model-406409-Rear-Dual-Speed-500W-Hub-Motor-Kit

I'm thinking of converting a mountain bike with the above kit. This is because mountain bike would have full suspension since i live in a pothole ridden area. Only problem with mountain bike and this kit is where to mount the battery. The frame is usually huge and not much room for battery.

Yeh, we know, you’ve heard it all before. Like when we bought you news of the mythical E-V Sunny with solar panel wheels. But The Electrobike Pi looks different.

2WD

I'm sure this been discussed before, but I can't find it with the search function.
What advantage or disadvantage of going to two wheel drive on a bicycle.
and how would you wire up something like this? separate controller? parallel the hub motors?

I know battery would be an issue, but I think it would be a cool idea for extreme trail riding.
(I use to love to take my gas dirt bike on the triple diamond trails.)

Thanks for any replies.
