beta.wwwatts.net

I've been working on a redesign of wwwatts.net (at http://beta.wwwatts.net) using a different underlying software stack. It's seeming to be more stable plus there are more features that can be added. For example I just added a voting widget so the readers of the site can vote on their favorite articles.

I'd like some feedback on the design and whatnot.

I've done very little theming at this point, and that's next up. I'd be interested to know whether the existing http://wwwatts.net theme is good and whether it should be replicated on the new site.

Re: beta.wwwatts.net

David, I personally think that the theme for both this site (VisforV, that is) and the beta.wwwatts are much better than the current wwwatts.net. The current wwwatts.net is much too "busy" for my eyes, and isn't comfortable to look at. I tried browsing it before, and gave up for that same reason. Remember, people usually don't give you constructive criticism unless they like you.:)

Re: beta.wwwatts.net

Thanks, I'll try to keep it simple. I wonder what you mean by 'busy'? Is it the 'Add This' buttons on every post? Or is it the lines around the outside of each post? Or is it the popup menu of categories? Or the popup top navigation thingymajig?

I've done some more cleanup today.. One change I really liked is to make the header stripe white. The way it was appeared kinda dingy and it's much better this way.

I did add the lines around the outside of the postings because I like the visual separation. But maybe that's what you mean by 'busy'?
