any ideas to pep up a X-Treme XB-600?

Just bought an X-Treme XB-600. This thing is a dog. Was hoping to get some suggestions to make it go faster. Perhaps upgrade the battery or change out the motor. The battery would be relatively easy but that motor is inside the rear wheel. That seems like a pain. Any help would be apprecaited. Was thinking of going to a Lithium Ion battery for better power and capacity. Any thoughts? My goal is to get it to run at 35MPH top speed so I can keep up with city traffic (like a Honda metropolitan)

Use the "Search" function on this site and you will find a great deal of information regarding performance upgrades to the XB-600.

You wont be getting 35mph out of the xb600 very easily. Search the sight for xb600 shunt mod and 72v xb600.

2 links. About the best you are going to get is ~30mph by going to 72V and modding the stock controller or buying a new one.
My best suggestion is to perform the shunt mod and goto 60V, this can be done rather quickly and easily. Going up to 72V requires you to change out capacitors and mosfets in the stock controller, and use a relay or change the dc-dc converter, or buy a new 72V controller.

upgrading to a Lithium pack will also improve performance. They are much lighter, have a longer life, have better charge and discharge currents, but are also a LOT more expensive than SLA batteries.

The closest you will get to 35mph would be a 72V Lithium pack upgrade, a new 72V controller with higher amperage, and replacing the existing wiring with lower gauge wire and better connectors.

Keep in mind, upgrading to that speed limit will change the classification of the vehicle from electric-assisted bicycle to either moped, or motorcycle, meaning increased regulation and licensing/insurance.
